Its real value is as an independent backup and storage layer for websites, servers, SaaS accounts, endpoints, NAS devices, databases, and business files.

The company is privately held and headquartered in Calabasas, California. Raghu Kulkarni is associated with the company as Founder and CEO. The modern company profile lists IDrive Inc. as founded in 2007, while older corporate history traces the Pro Softnet roots back to 1995, followed by the IDrive Inc. rebrand in 2013. This gives the brand a longer operating history than many newer cloud-storage and backup competitors.
