IDNet is a long-established British Internet and communications provider operated by Infinity Developments Ltd. The business dates back to 1996, when brothers Simon and Tim Davies founded the company, and it has remained independently operated while expanding from Internet services into broadband, business connectivity, telephony, leased lines, managed email and web hosting. Infinity Developments Ltd is registered in England and Wales under company number 03105579, while IDNet also operates as an Ofcom-registered communications provider.

Hosting represents one part of a broader network and telecommunications business rather than the company's only activity. The main hosting-related services include Shared Hosting, Domain Registration, Email Hosting and SSL certificates, making the service particularly suitable for customers who prefer to keep connectivity, domains, email and website hosting with the same UK provider.

The shared-hosting range consists of Web Standard and Web Premium. Web Standard includes 2 GB of disk space, 100 GB of monthly data transfer, 50 concurrent connections, five databases, 2 GB of memory and two CPU cores. Web Premium increases the allocation to 5 GB of disk space, 200 GB of transfer, 100 concurrent connections, ten databases, 4 GB of memory and four CPU cores. Hosting accounts are subject to a 10 GB maximum storage allocation.

Both packages run with cPanel, Apache 2.4, IPv6 and HTTP/2. PHP support covers a wide selection of versions, while MySQL and Perl are available for database-driven and scripted applications. WordPress and other CMS platforms can be operated on the service as long as the package includes the database resources required by the application.

SSL can be enabled directly on hosted websites. Let's Encrypt certificates can be installed through cPanel AutoSSL, while commercial SSL certificates are also available as an additional annual service. This makes HTTPS deployment straightforward without requiring customers to manage certificates manually.

Domain registration and transfer services are available separately from hosting. IDNet can handle registration, renewal and DNS administration, including common extensions such as .co.uk, .com, .net and .org. Customers can also transfer existing domains into or away from IDNet when they want to consolidate or move their services.

Email hosting is available independently from web hosting. Domain Mail Basic includes a 100 MB mailbox, Domain Mail Standard increases this to 250 MB, and Domain Mail Large provides 1 GB. Standard and Large mailboxes include spam and virus filtering. Roundcube webmail, IMAP, POP3, SMTP, TLS encryption, vacation messages and server-side mail rules are available.

SMTP Gateway services are another useful option for businesses operating their own mail servers. Incoming email can be routed through IDNet before delivery to the customer's server, with temporary mail storage available when the destination system is unavailable.

IDNet's wider communications portfolio includes business broadband, fibre connectivity, mobile broadband, Hosted PBX, digital voice, private circuits and EtherPro leased lines. Symmetrical leased-line connectivity can reach 10 Gbps, giving the company considerably more network experience than a conventional shared-hosting-only provider.
