📄 Editorial Review
Icy Evolution is a Mauritius-based web hosting and Internet services provider operating since 2010. The hosting business is operated by Tidal Waves Ltd (tidalwaves.ltd), a Mauritian company registered in 2013 and headquartered in Moka. Tewin Sham is associated with the business as CEO and co-founder.The company has developed beyond conventional local shared hosting and now serves both Mauritian and international customers. Its operation includes more than 3,400 active clients, over 56 managed servers and more than 4,870 domains under management. This remains a relatively compact hosting company, but its range of services is much broader than its size might suggest.
The portfolio covers Shared Hosting, WordPress Hosting, managed VPS, unmanaged VPS, managed Dedicated Servers, unmanaged Bare Metal Servers, domain registration, .MU domains, WordPress maintenance, Website Builder, SSL Certificates, business email delivery, Microsoft 365, backup services and email server services. This makes Icy Evolution suitable both for small websites and for customers that need dedicated infrastructure with server management.
SSD Cloud Shared Hosting is the main entry-level product. Silver Cloud includes 25 GB of dedicated SSD storage and supports two domains. Gold increases this to 50 GB and seven domains, SME provides 75 GB and 12 domains, while Business and Ultimate support unlimited domains with 150 GB and 250 GB of dedicated storage. Larger Ultimate Plus Cloud and Optimus Cloud configurations extend storage to 320 GB and 500 GB.
Shared hosting runs on cPanel with Softaculous and includes email accounts, databases, FTP access, SSL certificates, 1 Gbit/s connectivity and regular backups. PHP hosting is complemented by Python, Ruby and Node.js support, giving developers more flexibility than on a basic PHP-only account.
Some higher shared packages combine a defined dedicated SSD allocation with unlimited disk space under Fair Use and on-demand usage rules. Unlimited bandwidth is also governed by acceptable-resource policies. For practical comparison, the dedicated SSD allocation is the most useful resource figure because it represents the clearly assigned storage capacity.
Security is a strong part of the shared platform. Accounts benefit from hardware firewall protection, Imunify web application security, DDoS protection, SSL and disaster-recovery procedures. Server capacity is managed around available disk and computing resources rather than relying on aggressive overselling.
WordPress works well on the shared platform through cPanel, Softaculous and WordPress-oriented optimization. Customers needing ongoing administration can add WP Seals WordPress Maintenance, which covers WordPress core, theme and plugin updates, security monitoring, brute-force protection, malware scanning, cloud backups and uptime monitoring. WP Seals Lite provides daily malware scans and daily site-level backups, while the lower-priced Micro service performs these tasks weekly.
The VPS range is divided between customers who want full management and those comfortable administering Linux themselves. Managed cPanel SSD VPS plans include root access, cPanel/WHM, Imunify360, firewall protection, nightly backups and 7/7 technical assistance. Starter begins with 1 CPU core, 1 GB RAM and 25 GB Enterprise SSD storage. Pro increases this to 2 cores, 2 GB RAM and 80 GB, while Superior reaches 4 cores, 8 GB RAM and 160 GB. CloudLinux, JetBackup and Softaculous can be added where required.
Unmanaged SSD VPS provides full root access and leaves operating-system administration to the customer. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian are available among the Linux choices. Configurations start with modest 1–2 GB RAM systems and extend to larger four-core servers. Hardware-level assistance and firewalling remain available, but application configuration, updates and troubleshooting are the customer's responsibility.
Network capacity differs between service classes. Managed VPS plans use 100 Mbps connectivity, while shared hosting and dedicated servers operate with higher-capacity 1 Gbit/s connections. Server and infrastructure monitoring continues around the clock, while direct customer assistance is defined primarily as 7/7 support.
Dedicated Servers are available as fully managed systems or unmanaged bare metal. Managed configurations combine cPanel/WHM, Imunify360, firewall protection, remote nightly backups and full root access. Hardware choices include Intel Xeon E3, E-2278 and dual-Xeon E5 platforms with HDD or SSD storage, generally offering between 8 GB and 32 GB RAM and several included IP addresses.
The Asgard range is suitable for more moderate dedicated workloads, Olympus increases processing and memory capacity, and Atlantis and Svarga use dual-processor Xeon configurations for heavier projects. Customers who do not need management can choose Bare Metal Servers with CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian or Windows and retain full administrative control.
Dedicated systems can be customized with additional RAM, disk capacity or IP addresses. The server range is based mainly on proven Xeon E3 and E5 generations rather than the newest high-core-count server CPUs, making it more appropriate for traditional web hosting, application hosting and business workloads than for customers specifically seeking the latest processor platforms.
Domain registration is an important part of Icy Evolution's Mauritius business. The company is an accredited .MU registrar, giving local businesses direct access to Mauritius domain registrations. .MU registrations include DNS management and free WHOIS privacy. Privacy protection is also available without charge for other eligible extensions. Hundreds of international extensions can be registered, while very short .MU names may be treated as premium domains and priced individually.
Microsoft products are also available, including Microsoft 365 Personal and Family. Personal includes 1 TB of OneDrive storage for one user, while Family supports up to six users and as much as 6 TB of total storage. These subscriptions include the familiar Microsoft productivity applications together with OneDrive and Copilot-related functionality.
Additional hosting services include SSL installation and Premium Business Email Delivery Route, which gives a cPanel account a dedicated outbound delivery IP. This can be useful for companies where email reputation and message deliverability are important.
Website creation is covered through WebCraft and Sitejet. WebCraft provides drag-and-drop editing, a substantial collection of templates, ecommerce functionality and website importing. Higher WebCraft tiers include more than 225 templates. Shared hosting normally allows up to three WebCraft-built websites per account, with additional builder sites available at extra cost. Sitejet provides another integrated site-building option, while Weebly remains available separately with Free, Starter, Pro and Business packages.
The main Icy Evolution website is in English. Customer assistance is available in English, French and Mauritian Creole, which is particularly useful for the local Mauritius market. The billing portal has much wider localization, including Arabic, Azerbaijani, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Persian, French, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Macedonian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Ukrainian.
Billing is available in both Mauritian rupees (MUR) and US dollars (USD). This is practical for local customers paying in Mauritius while still allowing straightforward international ordering.
