*📜 Plan description
The Basic lifetime plan provides 100GB of storage for one USD 199 payment, reduced from USD 299. There are no renewal charges. Zero-knowledge encryption, the encrypted virtual drive, desktop sync, file versioning, sharing and file-request tools, advanced public-link controls, Google Authenticator or SMS authentication, and priority support are included.
Lifetime storage has no monthly or annual renewal charges and is intended for personal files, photos, backups, and sharing. Additional lifetime capacity can be stacked later. The lifetime range is better suited to casual and regular personal use than to always-on automation, NAS-style synchronization, or high-frequency archival workflows. Every lifetime account supports two sync devices and three sync pairs per device, retains versions for 14 days with a maximum of 30 versions, and includes priority support. Secure cloud storage is available through Icedrive's proprietary web, desktop, and mobile applications. The desktop virtual drive mounts the account like a native disk, allowing files to be opened, edited, uploaded, downloaded, renamed, moved, or deleted without synchronizing the complete storage quota. Intelligent caching improves access to recently used files while limiting local disk usage. The portable desktop app supports folder transfers, media streaming, document and image previews, and automatic re-upload of locally edited files. The browser file manager includes drag and drop, right-click actions, keyboard shortcuts, multi-file chunked uploads, document and vector previews, and direct audio or video streaming. Applications are available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. Icedrive sets no service-level maximum file size; its XFS storage platform supports individual files up to 100TB. Premium security includes encryption at rest, TLS 1.2 or TLS 1.3 transfers, client-side zero-knowledge Twofish encryption, and a locally generated 256-bit key based on the user's passphrase. File names and file chunks are encrypted before upload, and the encryption key is not sent to the storage servers. Paid collaboration includes public links, full user-to-user sharing, file requests, activity history, comments, link expiration, download caps, preview-only access, and password protection. Two-factor authentication supports Google Authenticator and SMS. The service is GDPR and UK GDPR compliant and uses ISO 27001-certified Tier III+ data centers. Each plan has a defined bandwidth allowance, but the numerical quota is not listed. Card payments are processed through Stripe; Google Pay and Apple Pay are also accepted, while PayPal, bank transfer, and cryptocurrency are not accepted. Paid plans receive priority help through tickets, the contact form, the help center, and the community forum. The pricing page gives a 30-day money-back guarantee. Data center countries are not disclosed.

📄 Editorial Review
Icedrive is a privacy-focused cloud storage provider founded in 2019 by James Bressington. The service is operated by Ice Privacy LTD (ice.gi), a Gibraltar-based software company specializing in secure file storage, synchronization, backup, encryption, and cross-device access. The company previously operated through ID Cloud Services LTD in the United Kingdom. That business was incorporated on May 14, 2015, under the original name Firedrop LTD and became ID Cloud Services LTD in November 2018. ID Cloud Services LTD entered a solvent members’ voluntary liquidation on March 18, 2026. This procedure included a declaration of solvency and was not an insolvent liquidation. Some account areas still carry the former ID Cloud Services LTD name, although Ice Privacy LTD is now the main operating company.
Icedrive is a cloud storage service rather than a conventional web hosting provider. It does not include shared hosting, VPS hosting, dedicated servers, reseller hosting, website publishing, domain registration, or hosted email accounts. Its products center on online file storage, file synchronization, device backup, encrypted storage, file sharing, media streaming, and remote file access.
Every account includes 10 GB of free cloud storage. Paid customers can choose between annual subscriptions with several terabytes of capacity and one-time-payment lifetime plans intended primarily for personal storage.
One of the strongest features is the virtual cloud drive. The desktop application mounts the Icedrive account as though it were a locally connected hard disk, allowing files to be opened and managed through the operating system’s regular file manager. Files remain stored online and use only limited cache space on the computer until they are opened or edited.
The Mount & Sync application supports Windows 7 and newer, macOS 11 and newer, and Linux systems using kernel 2.6.11 or later. Downloads are available for Windows, macOS, Linux AppImage, Linux command-line environments, x86-64 systems, 32-bit Windows installations, and ARM64 devices.
The desktop application combines mounted-drive access with conventional folder synchronization. Specific local folders can be linked with folders in the cloud, allowing changes to be synchronized across computers. NAS synchronization is also supported, although NAS jobs operate on an eight-hour schedule rather than continuously monitoring changes in real time.
The mobile applications include automatic camera uploads, offline access, audio and video streaming, document viewing, file sharing, and a device backup wizard. The browser interface includes drag-and-drop uploads, contextual file commands, keyboard shortcuts, document previews, vector-file previews, media playback, and chunked transfers for large files.
Paid accounts include access to a separate encrypted storage area protected through Twofish client-side encryption. File contents, file names, and folder names are encrypted on the customer’s device before they are transferred to the storage platform.
Encryption keys are generated from the customer’s passphrase and are not sent to Icedrive. This creates a zero-knowledge arrangement in which the company cannot recover the encryption password or decrypt files stored in the encrypted section.
The main limitation of the encrypted area is that encrypted files cannot currently be shared with other people. Files requiring public links or collaborative access must remain outside the encrypted section. A planned Crypto Boxes system may introduce encrypted sharing in the future, but it is not yet part of the active service.
Paid plans also include longer file-version retention, desktop synchronization, password-protected public links, link expiration dates, download restrictions, preview-only links, file-request links, activity records, and file commenting.
Version history is retained for 30, 60, or 90 days, depending on the selected subscription. Paid subscriptions support three, five, or ten synchronization devices. Lifetime plans are limited to two synchronization devices and three synchronization pairs on each device.
There is no practical file-size restriction within the capacity of a normal customer account. The XFS-based storage platform can handle individual files of approximately 100 TB, which is substantially larger than the storage capacity included with the consumer plans.
Both uploads and downloads count toward the account’s bandwidth allowance. Downloads made by other people through public sharing links also consume the account owner’s bandwidth allocation.
WebDAV is being discontinued. It was disabled for new users on April 15, 2026 and is being gradually removed from existing accounts because of reliability, compatibility, and security limitations. Customers using WebDAV applications need to migrate to the native desktop, browser, mobile, or command-line tools.
An integrated document and spreadsheet environment called Icedrive Docs is still under development. Rich document editing, spreadsheet editing, encrypted online documents, real-time collaboration, and PDF exporting are not yet part of the active platform. Documents can currently be previewed through the browser, but Icedrive is not yet a full online office-suite replacement.
Account security includes encryption at rest, TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 connections, authenticator-based two-factor authentication, and SMS authentication for eligible paid accounts. Privacy controls include GDPR and UK GDPR rights, account-data downloads, account deletion requests, and the ability to remove stored login records.
The service does not rely on third-party behavioral advertising or the sale of customer data. This privacy model is a significant advantage for customers who do not want their storage activity used for advertising profiles.
Customers remain responsible for maintaining independent backups of important files. General company liability is limited to $100 under the service terms. Data associated with an expired paid subscription may be retained for only 20 days, while free accounts that remain inactive for 12 consecutive months may be removed after notification.
Icedrive is therefore better used as part of a broader backup strategy rather than as the only location for irreplaceable documents, photographs, or business files.
The website has a modern, responsive design that works properly on desktop and mobile screens. The service interface and public content are available in English, while commercial prices are displayed in U.S. dollars.
The company also operates a partner program for publishers, reviewers, and marketers. It includes a 60-day referral cookie, recurring commission eligibility, monthly bank-transfer payouts, a reporting dashboard, and commission rates of up to 20% on qualifying annual and lifetime purchases.
