📄 Editorial Review
.UG Registry (registry.co.ug) is the official registration service for Uganda’s .UG country-code top-level domain (ccTLD). The .UG namespace was delegated on March 8, 1995, giving Uganda a long-established national Internet identity. Uganda Online Ltd. is the ccTLD manager, while Infinity Computers and Communications Company LTD (i3C) operates the current registration platform and associated technical services from Kampala. i3C developed from the former Computer Frontiers International operation and adopted its present company name in 2012.The main service is registration and administration of Ugandan domain names. Available extensions include .ug, .co.ug, .com.ug, .org.ug, .or.ug, .edu.ug, .gov.ug, .go.ug, .mil.ug, .us.ug, .ne.ug, .sc.ug and .ac.ug. Customers can search for available names, register domains, renew them, manage nameservers and perform account-to-account transfers.
Security is particularly important for a national domain registry. DNSSEC, domain locking and WHOIS-related privacy functions are available, while the .UG zone itself is DNSSEC-signed. The authoritative DNS system is distributed between organizations and networks including the East African Help Desk, AFRINIC, ICANN and RIPE, giving the national namespace a geographically and operationally diverse DNS structure.
Accredited registrars can integrate directly with the Registry through Registry API v2. It supports domain availability searches, WHOIS queries, registrations, renewals, modifications, transfers, confirmations and domain lock or unlock operations. Authentication is handled with bearer API keys generated through the registrar account, making the service suitable for hosting companies and domain resellers that require automated provisioning.
A reseller and affiliate program complements the registrar platform, with recurring commissions of up to 30%, partner account management, white-label options, training and priority technical support.
The broader i3C service portfolio extends beyond domain names and includes shared hosting, cPanel hosting, WordPress hosting, VPS, cloud hosting, dedicated and enterprise servers, web design, managed IT, business email, SSL certificates, website security, backup and DNS services.
Cloud services integrate with AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, IBM and other major cloud ecosystems. Hosting and infrastructure options also include DigitalOcean, OVHcloud, Rackspace and Bluehost.
Shared hosting is offered through Bronze, Silver and Gold plans. These combine web storage with unmetered bandwidth, unlimited email accounts, malware-removal features, SSL, migration assistance and backup functionality. The technical stack includes SSD/SAS storage, MariaDB databases, hardware firewall protection and Acronis-based backups. WordPress hosting includes one-click deployment and migration assistance, while KVM VPS plans provide root access, SSD storage, DDoS protection and cPanel administration.
The commercial hosting interface supports a large number of languages, including English, Arabic, Azerbaijani, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Persian, French, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Macedonian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Ukrainian. The main Registry interface remains primarily English. Pricing is commonly available in USD, while .UG domain pricing can also be handled in UGX.
The Registry interface is considerably more modern than some parts of the wider hosting store. Certain hosting sections retain an older WHMCS-style design and legacy software references, including older Apache and PHP versions. There are also differences between promotional guarantee periods and the formal contractual policies, making the current terms and checkout conditions the most relevant reference when ordering hosting.
