Hostwinds is a US web hosting and infrastructure provider founded in 2010. The company began in Tulsa, Oklahoma and later established its headquarters near Seattle, Washington. Peter Holden founded Hostwinds and led its development from a conventional hosting business into a provider covering shared hosting, virtual servers, cloud infrastructure, dedicated hardware and colocation.

A major corporate change took place on April 29, 2026, when HostPapa acquired Hostwinds LLC. Hostwinds continues to operate under its established brand, while the legal business now forms part of HostPapa Inc.

The service range is unusually broad and includes Shared Hosting, Business Hosting, Reseller Hosting, White Label Reseller Hosting, managed and unmanaged Linux VPS, managed and unmanaged Windows VPS, Cloud Servers, Dedicated Servers, Load Balancers, Block Storage, Object Storage, Colocation, domain registration and SSL certificates. This gives customers a practical migration path from a basic website account to VPS, cloud or physical server infrastructure without having to move to another hosting company.

Shared Hosting is divided into Basic, Advanced and Ultimate plans. Basic supports one domain, Advanced supports four domains and Ultimate allows unlimited domains. Accounts use SSD storage and include unlimited bandwidth and disk space under the acceptable-use rules, a dedicated IP address, free SSL, cPanel, Softaculous, databases, FTP accounts, email and the Weebly website builder. VPS remains one of the most important Hostwinds product categories. Both Linux and Windows VPS are available with managed or unmanaged administration. Entry Linux configurations begin with 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, SSD storage and included bandwidth, while larger plans add processor cores, RAM, storage and transfer capacity.

Managed VPS customers receive substantially more system administration assistance. Unmanaged VPS is better suited to experienced administrators because Hostwinds maintains the underlying network and hardware while the customer remains responsible for operating-system and application management.

Dedicated Servers provide completely isolated physical resources and can be customized with different processors, memory capacities, storage devices and RAID configurations. RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 6, RAID 10 and higher-level arrays are available where the selected hardware configuration supports them. Dedicated servers use 1 Gbps network connectivity and can be ordered with managed administration.

The dedicated inventory includes both recent and older processor generations. Lower-priced configurations can therefore be attractive for workloads where CPU age is less important, but customers running high-performance applications should compare the exact processor model, core count and memory configuration rather than choosing solely by monthly price.
