*📜 Plan description

Cloud Server Germany is a managed cluster-based server service designed to combine hardware-failure resilience with on-demand scaling. A single system is advertised from EUR 495 net / EUR 589.05 including VAT. The cluster uses KVM virtualization, Ceph storage and Linux, and Hostserver states that individual systems are configured on Debian Linux. CPU, RAM and storage can be expanded on demand, while automatic failover is intended to keep a system available when a host system suffers a hardware fault.

The service includes individual configuration, comprehensive management, 24/7 monitoring, backup and service. Systems are hosted in ISO 27001-certified high-security data centers in Germany, with Hostserver identifying Frankfurt am Main as its main hosting location and highlighting resilient connectivity. The product page does not publish a fixed RAM, CPU, storage size, transfer allowance or dedicated IPv4 count for the EUR 495 starting configuration, because the system is tailored to customer requirements. The current general terms state 99% annual reachability for Hostserver Internet web servers. Payment by bank transfer is supported.

📄 Editorial Review

Hostserver GmbH is a German managed hosting, cloud and infrastructure provider headquartered in Marburg, Hesse. The business has roots going back to 1998, when the operation began as Wyneken und Schäfer GbR, while 2000 marks the formal foundation of Hostserver. Julian Wyneken and Marcus Schäfer are the managing directors and have been closely associated with the company since its early development. Hostserver has grown into a specialized technical organization with more than 30 employees, serving around 500 companies and agencies in Germany, the wider DACH market and other European countries.

The company became a DENIC member in 2002, opened a Berlin office in 2010 and subsequently added ISO-certified quality and information-security management. Its business model differs considerably from conventional mass-market hosting. Hostserver concentrates on managed infrastructure and customized environments rather than inexpensive shared hosting, with services covering Managed Hosting, Managed Linux Servers, Managed Windows Servers, Application Servers, Database Servers, Managed Kubernetes, Managed Docker, Cloud Servers, Private Cloud, OpenNebula, OpenStack, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, Colocation, Domains, DNS, SSL Certificates, Managed Firewalls, Load Balancing, DDoS Protection and IT Outsourcing.

The Managed Linux Server range combines dedicated resources with complete technical administration. Hostserver handles operating-system maintenance, security updates, monitoring, network operation, firewalling and backups. The M configuration includes 4 CPU cores, 16 GB RAM and 480 GB SSD storage in RAID 1, while the L system increases resources to 6 cores, 32 GB RAM and 960 GB NVMe RAID 1. The XL configuration provides 6 cores, 64 GB RAM and approximately 1.9 TB NVMe RAID 1. These managed servers include 100 Mbps flat-rate connectivity and daily backups.

Managed Windows Server environments are also available for Microsoft-oriented workloads, with configurations prepared individually. Hostserver can additionally build specialized Application Servers for PHP/MySQL, Java/Tomcat, Ruby on Rails and other software stacks.

Database infrastructure is another important part of the portfolio. Managed database environments cover MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch/ELK, MongoDB, Redis and other NoSQL technologies. High-availability and geographically redundant database architectures can be built for applications where database performance and continuity are particularly important.

The cloud portfolio includes Cloud Server, OpenNebula Private Cloud and OpenStack Private Cloud. Cloud Servers use KVM virtualization and Ceph storage, with scalable processing, memory and storage resources, automatic failover, backups and continuous monitoring. OpenNebula and OpenStack provide more extensive dedicated cloud environments with customer web interfaces and APIs. Hostserver can administer the compute, networking and Ceph storage layers while also handling migrations and technical onboarding.

Container infrastructure is available through Managed Kubernetes and Managed Docker. Kubernetes clusters are separated by customer, while Hostserver manages the underlying systems, operating-system maintenance, monitoring, security and upgrade process. Managed Docker follows the same operational approach, combining container hosting with backup, updates, monitoring and incident management.

The infrastructure range also includes Colocation/Housing in Frankfurt. Options extend from smaller shared environments to private 42U racks. Full-rack configurations can include redundant A/B power feeds, 1 Gbps network connectivity, flat-rate traffic and controlled 24/7 physical access.

Managed network-security services include firewalls and load balancers for environments ranging from smaller applications to deployments requiring more than 10 Gbps of throughput. Technologies include pf-based platforms together with Fortinet, Juniper and Cisco systems. DDoS protection is available for Internet-facing infrastructure.

Hostserver has operated domain and DNS services for many years and became a DENIC member early in its development. The domain platform supports more than 300 TLDs and handles more than 12,000 registered domains. DNS services include authoritative DNS, Secondary DNS, Hidden Primary DNS, Anycast DNS, DNSSEC and DANE. DNS records such as A, AAAA, MX, TXT and SPF can be administered through a dedicated browser interface.

Security and compliance are major strengths. Hostserver maintains ISO/IEC 27001 certification for information-security management and ISO 9001 certification for quality management. Its internal controls are also audited under IDW PS 951 Type 2, while ITIL processes are used for service management. SSL certificates, managed firewalls, DDoS mitigation, DNSSEC, DANE and security analysis complement the managed infrastructure portfolio.

The website and commercial presentation are primarily in German. No complete multi-language/localized version exists. Pricing is offered in EUR and is generally shown excluding VAT because the services are primarily aimed at businesses, organizations and public-sector customers.
