📄 Editorial Review
HostPapa is a Canadian web hosting and cloud-services company established in 2006 by Jamie Opalchuk, its founder and CEO. The privately held HostPapa, Inc. is headquartered in Burlington, Ontario, and has employees distributed across 37 countries. LinkedIn lists 51–200 people at the core company, while a broader workforce estimate places the expanded organisation at approximately 418 employees in 2026. The platform serves more than 500,000 website owners and operates localized services across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific.What began as small-business web and email hosting has developed into a full product ladder. HostPapa now supplies shared hosting, optimized and managed WordPress, reseller hosting, managed and unmanaged VPS, managed and unmanaged dedicated servers, domain registration, business email, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, website building and design, ecommerce applications, security and off-site backup. Regional sites provide English, French, German and Spanish interfaces, local currencies and a wide set of domestic support numbers.
The shared platform uses NVMe storage and CloudLinux LVE isolation. Every plan includes SSL, Imunify360 malware scanning, a web application firewall and brute-force login protection; most also use a global CDN. These server-level facilities protect accounts from common attacks and resource contention, but customers remain responsible for application updates, passwords and independent copies of important data.
WordPress Hosting is pre-installed and performance-tuned. WP Toolkit controls staging, database access, maintenance mode and routine site administration. WP Essentials supports one site with 25 GB NVMe storage, WP Growth supports five sites with 100 GB and twice the entry resources, and WP Premium supports unlimited sites with 200 GB and four times the baseline allocation. Security and automated-backup allowances become more generous as the plan increases.
Managed WordPress transfers more maintenance and security responsibility to the provider. The standard drag-and-drop builder instead targets users who want more than 100 responsive templates, SEO tools and mobile optimisation without working directly in WordPress. Do-It-For-Me and custom design packages cover customers who want HostPapa to create the site. Ecommerce, content-management, learning-management and business applications extend the catalogue beyond simple brochure websites.
Reseller accounts run on brandable cPanel and WHM. Packages define the permitted cPanel accounts, NVMe storage, CPU, RAM and dedicated IPs, and let the reseller enforce resource limits per customer. Free migration and private nameservers support white-label operation. Advanced tiers include WHMCS or Clientexec billing automation, with the WHMCS licence limited to 250 accounts. The reseller controls pricing and customer relationships while HostPapa operates the platform.
The VPS range combines root access, guaranteed virtual resources, private nameservers, NVMe storage, one or two IP addresses and the VHI VPS panel. Unmanaged configurations scale from small instances to 32 cores, 32 GB RAM and 500 GB storage, with metered or unmetered transfer according to tier. Managed VPS adds cPanel/WHM and assistance with the underlying environment. Software outside the cPanel-supported stack remains outside normal managed support, a boundary developers should understand before installing a custom platform.
HostPapa added Dedicated Server Hosting to the primary catalogue in 2025. Unmanaged servers use flat monthly prices and give the customer full SSH and operating-system responsibility. Managed plans include cPanel, Softaculous, a GlobalSign wildcard SSL certificate, 1 TB of backup storage, system updates, security patches, monitoring, DNS setup and migration. Hardware now ranges from economical Xeon E3 configurations to Ryzen and dual-Xeon machines, with 1 or 10 Gbps ports and substantial transfer allowances.
Professional email can be purchased through HostPapa's own mailbox service, Google Workspace or Microsoft 365. Protection Power and SiteLock add monitoring and response beyond the shared security baseline. Automated Website Backup is a distinct customer-restorable product: it performs daily incremental captures, keeps seven restore points, stores up to 50 GB off-site and can restore a site, database, email or individual file. Continuous RAID-level server backup is disaster protection for HostPapa's infrastructure, not a substitute for this account-level recovery tool.
Domain management is another important part of the all-in-one model. Customers can search hundreds of generic and country extensions, attach a domain to hosting, manage DNS and transfer an existing registration. A free transfer or first-year registration is convenient, but the registrant should keep ownership details current and remember that hosting cancellation does not erase the domain charge. Separating registrar access from day-to-day website credentials is sensible for organisations with several administrators.
Acquisitions have transformed the company. WebServe joined in 2013. Lunarpages, PacificHost and related brands followed in 2019; MezzoHost, HostLabs, SecureLive, Canvas Host, Korax and Data Deposit Box in 2020; and Silicon Valley Web Hosting, iHost, LFC Hosting and UptimeMate in 2021. Osiris, WooCart and Cloud 9 Hosting arrived in 2022, followed by Deluxe Corporation's hosting and logo-design businesses in 2023.
Expansion accelerated again in 2025, when HostPapa completed its purchase of CloudBlue from Ingram Micro and secured a US$130 million syndicated credit facility. CloudBlue brought more than 450 commerce and provisioning integrations for telecom, MSP, reseller and software partners. Tailor Made Servers was acquired on April 27, 2026, and Hostwinds on April 29, 2026. Those transactions expanded dedicated and full-stack capacity in Dallas, Seattle and Amsterdam and added Hostwinds alongside Hostopia, ColoCrossing and CloudBlue within the group.
The expanded group now reaches far beyond the original retail-hosting account. Cloud commerce, wholesale infrastructure, bare metal, security, backup, and multiple acquired hosting brands sit behind the customer-facing service. This provides more technical depth and geographic choice, but acquisitions do not make every platform identical. A buyer moving between shared hosting, a managed VPS, and an acquired dedicated environment should verify where the workload runs, which team supports it, which control panel applies, and whether migration includes application-level testing. The common ownership is useful, while product-specific operating rules still matter.

😁 Besides the reasonably priced domain hosting, including a complete Wordpress backend, HostPapa's customer service is always amazing. Anytime I have a question, no matter how small or complex, they are quick to help. And, as a techie, I appreciate their respectful responses and assistance.

😠 Terrible company with ridiculous practices and methodology. You buy an unlimited hosting plan with a simple less than 50 visitors a month wordpress site and they will keep bugging you every week and say " you are using too much of resources please try the listed methods to fix it [ 30 different steps only someone from the field with solid background would understand]" They expect you to solve the problems for themselves lol. And if you can't, they suggest " buy this super unlimited deal with >500$ and we will hopefully won't bother you until we ran out of money " Not to mention, servers are waay slower compared to big dudes in the market. Anyway it started well yet ended miserably. They did not give me a penny after 2 months of purchasing a 3 year hosting. This company is a joke just pay 5$ dam dollars more and go with the trustworthy one.
