📄 Editorial Review

Hosting.kr is a South Korean domain registrar, web hosting provider, and business infrastructure company operated by Megazone (megazone.com). Megazone began in 1998 as a web agency and hosting business, while Hosting.kr has accumulated more than 26 years of domain-service experience. Its platform manages over 1.12 million domains, processes more than 10,000 new domain registrations each year, supports over 590 extensions, and serves more than 310 enterprise domain customers.

The wider Megazone organization has expanded well beyond conventional hosting. Its cloud business has more than 2,700 employees, over 8,000 clients, and offices in nine countries. Founder Lee Joo-wan became chairman of the board in January 2025, while Megazone Corp., the legal operator of Hosting.kr, is represented by Jang Ji-hwang.

Domains remain one of Hosting.kr’s strongest areas. The portfolio includes new registrations, renewals, registrar transfers, backorders, WHOIS searches, domain parking, forwarding, privacy protection, automatic renewal, bulk DNS changes, advanced DNS records, brokerage, marketplace transactions, corporate portfolio management, and a domain reseller program with a RESTful API and dedicated reseller portal.

The domain management console supports bulk renewals, registrant information changes, DNS updates, parking, forwarding, privacy settings, and automatic renewal. Free nameservers operate across IDC and cloud infrastructure. Hosting.kr also handles country-code domains that require local documentation, including Korean extensions and international national domains.

Its managed domain service is designed for companies maintaining large portfolios across several registrars. Third-party domains can be consolidated into a central inventory with SSL monitoring, expiration alerts, registry-level locks, multifactor authentication, IP access restrictions, defensive registrations, portfolio optimization, automatic renewal, reporting, and assistance from a dedicated domain specialist. More than 2,200 domains are administered through this service for over 110 corporate customers, with a reported 100% domain continuity rate.

Three managed-domain tiers are available. Essentials costs 1,000 KRW per domain per month and requires at least 20 domains. Professional costs 3,000 KRW per domain per month and requires at least 50 domains. Enterprise requires at least 100 domains and uses customized pricing. Annual subscriptions reduce recurring charges by 20%. Enterprise customers also receive postpaid billing, monthly, quarterly, or annual settlement options, priority telephone assistance, a dedicated manager, and 24/7/365 monitoring.

The domain brokerage service handles owner identification, private negotiations, transaction coordination, and registrar transfer. There is no initial charge when a purchase does not proceed, while successful transactions carry a 10% service fee. The marketplace supports domain sales between customers, with sellers paying a 10% fee after completion.

Shared hosting is divided into Linux hosting with cPanel and Windows hosting with Plesk. Both operate on cloud infrastructure and include SSD storage, free SSL installation, a free .page.place subdomain, automatic database backups, application installers, DNS management, usage statistics, file management, and continuous service monitoring.

The entry-level Linux Slim package is suitable for a personal website, small blog, landing page, or basic company profile. It includes one website, one domain, 300 MB of SSD storage, 10 GB of monthly traffic, one MySQL database, free SSL, and a free .page.place address. The Linux Basic plan increases the allowance to ten websites, ten domains, 2 GB of SSD storage, 30 GB of monthly traffic, ten MySQL databases, and 100 subdomains.

Linux hosting includes MultiPHP, phpMyAdmin, raw access logs, application installation, SSL/TLS administration, directory protection, and the standard file and database tools available through cPanel. WordPress and other common web applications can be installed directly from the software installer.

Windows hosting supports ASP.NET, Microsoft-oriented applications, and SQL Server environments through Plesk. The Standard package includes ten websites, ten domains, 2 GB of SSD storage, 30 GB of monthly traffic, ten databases, 100 subdomains, free SSL, and a free .page.place address. Plesk adds database administration, scheduled tasks, SSL automation, application installation, and multi-site management.

Backup retention depends on the package. Linux Slim includes automatic database backups retained for three days. Linux Basic extends this to seven days and keeps long-term recovery data for up to 90 days after expiration. Windows Standard also includes remote backup protection and up to 90 days of post-expiration data retention. Normal expiration includes a seven-day renewal grace period, while a customer-requested cancellation can result in immediate deletion without the same recovery protection.

The office-product catalog expands Hosting.kr beyond traditional domains and web hosting. Docswave is a SaaS groupware platform covering electronic approvals, human resources, organizational charts, attendance, leave management, financial workflows, document templates, internal collaboration, notifications, APIs, and Google Drive backup. It serves more than 200,000 users across over 25,000 organizations and is used in more than 28 countries. The application supports Korean, Japanese, English, Chinese, Spanish, and Vietnamese. Organizations with fewer than ten users can use its basic functions without a monthly charge, while Professional service starts at 3,000 KRW per month, excluding VAT. Larger deployments use customized pricing.

*CONNECTPLACE** is a smart-office platform for desk reservations, meeting-room scheduling, visitor registration, attendance, leave management, QR check-in, occupancy analytics, dashboards, mobile applications, kiosks, electronic room signs, and IoT devices. It integrates with Microsoft 365 and Google calendars and uses an API-based, containerized, Kubernetes-compatible architecture. The Basic package costs 5,000 KRW per user per month for workplaces with up to 100 users. Additional seating, visitor, calendar, access-control, IoT, and customized workplace functions require a quotation.

Google Workspace is available with local Megazone assistance, migration support, DNS configuration, Korean tax invoices, and KRW billing. Business Starter, Standard, and Plus include 30 GB, 2 TB, and 5 TB of storage per user respectively, together with business Gmail, Meet, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Chat, administrative controls, endpoint management, and collaboration tools.

Security products include commercial SSL certificates from GlobalSign, Sectigo, GeoTrust, Thawte, and DigiCert. Single-domain, multi-domain, wildcard, organization-validated, and extended-validation certificates are available. Depending on the product, coverage can extend to as many as 100 domains, with SHA-256, RSA 2048-bit or stronger keys, ECC support, and warranties on selected certificates. Hosting.kr can complete installation for an additional 10,000 KRW.

Server security options include hardware firewalls, intrusion-prevention systems, web application firewalls, and antivirus protection. These services cover real-time log monitoring, event analysis, policy management, incident response, monthly reporting, vulnerability notifications, and redundant log storage.

Mesh VPN is a business-oriented zero-trust networking service. Its decentralized full-mesh design creates direct connections between authorized nodes rather than routing all traffic through a central gateway. It includes identity-based access, network visualization, automated threat detection, compromised-device isolation, policy-driven network separation, and support for hybrid offices, cloud systems, IoT environments, industrial networks, and remote users.

The server portfolio covers dedicated server hosting, colocation, managed server operations, server security, backups, load balancing, and Microsoft SPLA license rental. These services are aimed primarily at business and enterprise customers and use customized configurations rather than standardized instant-deployment plans.

The main storefront is modern and responsive but is primarily available in Korean. Portions of the help center are available in English, although the Korean-language service contract remains legally controlling. Most services are priced in South Korean won (KRW). Google Workspace prices are displayed in USD, with Korean customers able to receive invoices in KRW.
