HostHatch is a privately funded infrastructure provider established in 2011 and operated by HostHatch LLC from Tampa, Florida. It began with one server and grew into a compact international IaaS business serving customers in approximately 100 countries. The organization has an estimated two to ten employees, owns its server equipment and network, and expands without external investors. Its scale is global, but its catalog is intentionally narrow: Compute Virtual Machines and Storage Virtual Machines take priority over shared hosting, reseller packages, domain registration, managed WordPress, email hosting, or a bundled website builder.

Compute VMs are self-managed KVM instances based on Dell EMC systems, AMD EPYC processors, DDR4 memory, and Samsung enterprise NVMe storage. The range begins with one fair-share EPYC core, 2 GB RAM, and 10 GB NVMe, then rises through 4, 8, 12, 16, 24, 32, 48, and 64 GB configurations to a 96 GB machine with 16 cores and 250 GB NVMe. Higher tiers combine dedicated and fair-share cores. That design gives busy applications a guaranteed allocation while retaining burst capacity when the host has room.

These machines suit application servers, APIs, dynamic websites, databases, caches, CI workers, container stacks, development environments, monitoring systems, and regional service nodes. The smallest configurations favor lightweight processes and modest storage needs. Mid-range plans add dedicated CPU components and enough RAM for several containers or a more substantial database. The 48–96 GB tiers can consolidate many smaller services, but customers should still distribute critical workloads because one large VM remains a single failure domain.

Storage VMs take the opposite approach. Plans provide 1 TB to 10 TB of enterprise HDD capacity with only one or two virtual cores and 1 or 2 GB RAM. Transfer increases from 2.5 TB on the smallest plan to 25 TB on the 10 TB tier. This combination is optimized for off-site backups, archives, media collections, replication targets, and cold datasets. It is not intended to match NVMe random I/O or run a demanding database. Larger arrangements extending into hundreds of terabytes can be discussed separately.

Every VM supplies root-level control. Major Linux distributions are available as ready templates, and customers can upload an ISO to install another supported operating system. The platform includes reverse DNS, routed IPv6 with a /64 per VM, private networking, and optional BGP/BYOIP for organizations that own address space. BGP can involve extra cost and requires an individual arrangement. Private VLANs attach a second network interface so machines in one location can exchange internal traffic without exposing it to the public Internet. This is valuable for Kubernetes, load balancers, database replication, service discovery, and private administrative endpoints.

Provisioning is normally near-instant and can complete in about 60 seconds when the selected region has capacity. Public and private interfaces can operate at up to 40 GbE, although interface speed is not the same as monthly transfer. Both inbound and outbound traffic count toward a quota. Once the monthly allowance is exhausted, the VM is limited to 5 Mbps until the allowance resets on the first day of the next month. Additional transfer costs $4 per TB through support. Customers whose billing date is not the first should note that the traffic cycle and invoice cycle do not align.

DDoS filtering is included at network level, but HostHatch is an unmanaged provider. The customer installs, patches, hardens, monitors, and restores the guest system and all applications. The platform does not bundle a web-hosting stack, domain mail, registrar service, or commercial site panel. Snapshots, scheduled backups, and replicated NVMe block storage have appeared in selected regions, but their availability is location-dependent and should be checked before the architecture assumes they exist.

The acceptable-use rules prohibit cryptocurrency mining, malware, phishing, spam, port scanning, brute-force activity, network attacks, HYIP sites, pirated software, and applications that abuse CPU, disk, or network capacity. Outbound TCP port 25 is blocked by default and requires a valid justification for removal. A dedicated-CPU exception can sometimes be arranged for software otherwise considered resource-intensive, but approval should be obtained before deployment. Serious violations can produce immediate suspension or termination without refund.

HostHatch is consequently best understood as raw cloud infrastructure with a capable control plane. Its simplicity benefits experienced users who dislike expensive bundled services. It works less well for a beginner who expects a provider to configure a website, repair an application, manage mail reputation, or restore data automatically. The value proposition depends on the customer having the skills and processes to operate the virtual machine.
