HoboHost is a small independent U.S. hosting provider operating since 2008, with a clear focus on inexpensive shared hosting rather than VPS or dedicated infrastructure. The company operates as HoboHost, LLC and has remained active for well over a decade, making it one of the longer-running budget hosting brands in its price segment.

The current service range centers on shared cPanel hosting, domain registration and transfers, plus optional website-security services. The four hosting plans are Floor, Bench, Box, and Subway, all built around NVMe SSD storage and cPanel management.

Floor includes 5 GB NVMe storage, 20 GB monthly traffic, hosting for up to 10 websites and 1 GB RAM. Bench increases this to 10 GB NVMe storage, 60 GB traffic and up to 30 websites. Box offers 12 GB NVMe storage, 80 GB traffic and unlimited websites, databases and email accounts. Subway provides 20 GB NVMe storage, 160 GB traffic and 3 GB RAM, while allowing up to 10 websites.

All plans include cPanel, LiteSpeed Web Server, Softaculous (softaculous.com), free SSL certificates, MySQL databases, email hosting and FTP access. The overall environment is suitable for personal websites, blogs, smaller business sites and WordPress installations, while the Box package is particularly useful when many relatively small sites need to be kept under one account.

Security is stronger than expected at this price level. Accounts include Imunify360, KernelCare rebootless kernel updates, ModSecurity, brute-force protection, two-factor authentication, HotLink protection and Leech protection. WordPress users also receive WordPress Toolkit and AccelerateWP, while LiteSpeed Web Cache Manager can be used to optimize supported sites.

The cPanel environment includes File Manager, FTP administration, backup tools, cron jobs, Git version control, phpMyAdmin, DNS Zone Editor, email filters and delivery tracking. A drag-and-drop website builder is also included, together with AI-assisted content features and access to stock media.

Website migration assistance is available without an additional charge in normal cases. cPanel-to-cPanel migrations can include website files, databases, email accounts, DNS settings and other compatible account data. Transfers from non-cPanel platforms normally require a more manual process, but HoboHost can still assist with moving the site.

Domain registration and transfers are available through the client area. Customers can also keep domains with another registrar and simply point them to the HoboHost nameservers, ns1.hobohost.com and ns2.hobohost.com. Common extensions including .com, .net, .org, .us, .info, .me, .co.uk, .co, .biz and .io are supported.

An additional SiteLock security range is available for customers who want malware scanning and website protection beyond the standard hosting security. Entry packages provide daily malware and blacklist monitoring, while more advanced plans include automatic malware removal, application scanning, WordPress scans, firewall protection and CDN functionality.

One limitation concerns mailing-list functionality. Hosting specifications include mailing-list allowances on some packages, while the Terms of Service prohibit software such as Mailman, Majordomo and PHPlist. Customers planning to operate traditional mailing-list software should therefore treat the Terms of Service restriction as the applicable rule.
