HIWIT.net is a long-established French hosting brand operated by AZNET SARL, a French company registered under RCS/SIREN 444 818 215. HIWIT has operated since 2002, while AZNET was formally incorporated in 2003. The business is based in La Flèche, Sarthe, and Boris Jouatel is the company manager. Michael Polovina is associated with the company's technical and network operations and has also appeared as an administrative and technical contact for HIWIT infrastructure.

The company has a broader technical scope than a typical low-cost shared hosting provider. Its services include Linux shared hosting, VDS virtual servers, colocation and rack space, managed infrastructure, remote backup, server monitoring, hosted email and custom infrastructure services. Consulting work covers high-availability configurations, load balancing, storage systems, VPN deployment, server applications and custom development.

HIWIT is primarily aimed at French-speaking customers. The website and customer-facing information are in French, prices are denominated in EUR, and no multi-language/localized version exists. The website itself has a distinctly old-generation design with a narrow desktop-oriented layout and technical references that include PHP 4/5/7, MSN support, older Intel Xeon hardware and early VMware-oriented VDS infrastructure. This makes the company look considerably less modern than most hosting providers operating in 2026, even though the underlying business has a long operating history.

Shared Hosting is divided into five Linux packages: Plume, Shérif, Indien, Grand Chef and Chaman. Plume includes 2 GB of storage, 100 GB monthly traffic and support for two main websites. Shérif increases the allocation to 5 GB, 200 GB traffic and five websites. Indien includes 10 GB, 400 GB and eleven websites, Grand Chef provides 20 GB, 800 GB and twenty-three websites, while Chaman reaches 40 GB storage, 1.6 TB monthly traffic and fifty main websites.

The shared plans include unlimited subdomains, domain aliases, multi-site functionality, advanced DNS management, POP and IMAP email, webmail, spam and antivirus filtering, FTP access, MySQL databases, CGI/Perl and PHP support, Apache logs, statistics and regular backups. Email capacity ranges from approximately 100 mailboxes on the entry package to 1,000 on the largest plan, while FTP and database limits also increase substantially with the package level.

The shared platform uses a proprietary administration interface rather than a standard commercial control panel. Its infrastructure has been based on Dell blade servers and EqualLogic SAN storage with SAS disks arranged for redundancy. Daily website and database backups are part of the shared hosting environment. Some of the hardware specifications still associated with this platform, including Intel Xeon L5420 processors and 10,000 RPM SAS storage, are from an older server generation, so customers with performance-sensitive applications should confirm the current production configuration before migration.

Virtual Dedicated Servers (VDS) are available in XS, S, M, L and XL configurations. The range starts with 1 GB guaranteed RAM and scales through 2 GB, 4 GB and 8 GB to 16 GB. SAN storage allocations run from 5 GB to 90 GB depending on the package. Network allocations begin at around 1 Mbps and reach 12 Mbps on larger plans, with burst connectivity up to 100 Mbps.

VDS customers receive guaranteed CPU and memory resources, an IPv4 address, root access through SSH, configurable reverse DNS, hard-reboot controls and MRTG traffic monitoring. Resources can be upgraded without reinstalling the virtual machine. Ubuntu Server 64-bit is the standard operating system, while other GNU/Linux and BSD variants can be supplied depending on requirements. Microsoft Windows is not part of the standard VDS offering.

The VDS infrastructure uses VMware, iSCSI connectivity and EqualLogic SAN storage together with Dell blade systems. CPU and RAM resources are allocated to individual virtual servers instead of being treated only as unrestricted shared resources. The technical architecture is reliable in concept, although the continued presence of older Xeon L5420 specifications reinforces the need to verify what physical host generation is currently used.

HIWIT also offers colocation and rack-space services in Paris. These services include rack capacity, guaranteed multi-transit bandwidth, burst connectivity, redundant fiber links, optional remote-controlled power distribution, network switches, reverse DNS configuration, MRTG bandwidth graphs, secured data-floor access and technical intervention. Server rental can also be arranged as part of infrastructure projects. The separate dedicated-server section is no longer a prominent active product category, making colocation and customized infrastructure services the clearer options for customers needing physical server deployment.

The Security range adds external backup, monitoring and hosted email services. Pack Backup performs daily backups and keeps seven restore points available. Customers can restore data as required through a graphical interface, with storage capacities ranging from approximately 10 GB to 250 GB. The service relies on rsync and SSH-key authentication and is oriented toward Unix/Linux systems rather than Windows.

Pack Monitoring checks server availability and individual services such as Apache, FTP and ICMP ping. Alerts can be delivered by email or SMS, while higher monitoring levels include graphs for resources such as system load and RAM utilization. Pack Mail moves mailbox services onto HIWIT's mail infrastructure and includes POP/IMAP access, webmail-related functionality, anti-spam protection, antivirus scanning, aliases and autoresponders.

Managed infrastructure is another important part of the company. Customers can outsource server administration and 24/7 supervision, while larger technical projects can include clusters, redundant storage, load balancing, VPN architecture and custom server deployments. This gives HIWIT considerably more infrastructure depth than its inexpensive shared hosting prices initially suggest.
