Green is a long-established Swiss internet, hosting, cloud and data-center provider founded in 1995. The company began when the IT department of the Swiss Farmers’ Union, under the direction of Guido Honegger, introduced internet services through the agri.ch brand. The business became green.ch in 2001, entered the data-center sector in 2002 and established Green Datacenter as a dedicated infrastructure operation in 2010. The hosting and data-center activities have operated under the unified Green identity since 2021.

The company is headquartered in Lupfig, in the canton of Aargau, and serves approximately 100,000 customers. Roger Süess has led the business as CEO since 2019. Green became part of the IFM Global Infrastructure Fund, managed by IFM Investors (ifminvestors.com), on October 30, 2025. The organization has a workforce within the 201–500 employee range.

Green is considerably more than a traditional shared hosting provider. Its portfolio includes Linux web hosting, managed WordPress hosting, Windows hosting, domain registration, website creation, email hosting, Hosted Exchange, Microsoft 365, backup services, cybersecurity, business internet, hosted telephony, cloud infrastructure, colocation, network connectivity and managed data-center services.

Linux Web Hosting is available through S, M and L packages with 100 GB, 250 GB and 500 GB of SSD storage. Depending on the selected plan, customers receive between 25 and 200 databases, 1 GB to 4 GB of memory, unlimited mailboxes, unlimited hosted domains, PHP 8.4, GZIP compression, application isolation and access to a website builder. Free Let’s Encrypt certificates are included when Green nameservers are used.

The hosting platform creates backups every six hours and retains restore points for 14 days. Customers can restore their own data without paying an additional restoration fee. DDoS protection, a web application firewall, isolated hosting containers and continuous platform monitoring provide a substantial security layer for ordinary websites and business applications.

WordPress Hosting follows the same S, M and L package structure but allocates more memory to the application. These plans include 100 GB to 500 GB of SSD storage, 2 GB to 8 GB of memory and support for between two and ten WordPress installations. PHP 8.4, HTTP/2, JIT optimization, server-side caching, automated installation and six-hour backups make the service suitable for blogs, company websites and moderately demanding online projects. The largest plan also supports Git and custom CGI applications.

Windows Hosting remains available for projects requiring ASP.NET, Microsoft SQL Server or Classic ASP. The four packages provide between 25 GB and 250 GB of SSD storage, one to five MSSQL databases, 10 GB to 40 GB of email storage and between 50 and 400 email accounts. MySQL, PHP, SSL certificates, unlimited traffic and centralized website and email administration are included.

The Website Package combines a `.ch` domain, Web Hosting S, 100 GB of SSD storage, 25 databases, unlimited mailboxes and the website builder under one subscription. It is a practical option for a Swiss small business that prefers to purchase its domain, hosting and site-building tools together.

Domain registration covers hundreds of generic and country-code extensions. DNS management and domain transfers are supported, while DNSSEC is automatically included for `.ch` domains. WordPress, TYPO3 and Drupal can be installed through the hosting environment, and professional website-development assistance is available through Green’s partner network.

Email Hosting ranges from 2 GB to 50 GB of storage and supports between 10 and 100 mailboxes. Webmail, spam and antivirus filtering, SSL/TLS connections, forwarding, autoresponders, calendars, contacts, blacklist and whitelist management and self-service restoration are included.

Hosted Exchange is offered through Lite, Lite Plus and Full packages. The larger plans add MAPI connectivity, mobile synchronization and substantially more mailbox storage, while the Full package includes an Outlook license. Exchange data remains recoverable for up to 30 days.

Business collaboration services include Microsoft 365 Business and Office 365 Enterprise. Green assists with domain configuration, user administration, migration and technical support, while the productivity applications and cloud services remain within the Microsoft ecosystem.

For infrastructure customers, VDC Pro operates as a scalable Swiss virtual data center. Computing resources can be provisioned within seconds, expanded through the management portal or REST API and billed according to actual use. Data remains in Switzerland, geo-redundant deployment is available across two locations and optional firewall and backup services can be added.

Green also supports private, public and hybrid cloud architectures. Its Azure Local platform connects locally hosted workloads to Microsoft Azure through Azure ExpressRoute while preserving Swiss data residency. Swiss Cube provides managed IBM Power infrastructure with operational support delivered alongside IBM (ibm.com) and Unimission (unimission.ch).

These enterprise services are the closest alternatives to conventional VPS and dedicated-server hosting. Green concentrates on managed infrastructure, private cloud, virtual data centers, hybrid deployments and physical colocation rather than inexpensive unmanaged VPS instances or individual entry-level bare-metal servers.

Colocation customers can rent half racks, full racks, private cages, dedicated suites, entire floors or customized hyperscale capacity. Additional services cover infrastructure relocation, project management, custom rack configurations, dedicated security arrangements, business-continuity workspaces, Remote Hands, Smart Hands, dark fiber, patch connections and customer audits.

The website has a modern responsive design and complete German, French and English versions. Customer assistance is available in Switzerland’s three principal national languages, and product prices are primarily displayed in Swiss francs.
