Icelandic law governs agreements with the Icelandic company, so customers should identify the contracting entity attached to their chosen service.

The business was created to support free speech, press freedom and whistleblowing initiatives. Its strongest fit is with independent media, journalists, civil-society organizations, activists, investigative teams and privacy-aware infrastructure administrators, though ordinary companies can also use the platform. Abuse and legal challenges are handled with attention to the law of the server location.
