firstcolo is a German B2B data-center, cloud, and managed-infrastructure provider founded in 2007 and headquartered in Frankfurt am Main. The current operating entity is firstcolo Datacenters GmbH, while the wider organization also includes firstcolo GmbH and holding structures. Jerome Evans is Founder and CEO, Nicolaj Kamensek serves as COO, and Dennis Bergfeld is CFO. The company has grown to more than 80 employees and serves more than 350 enterprise customers.

The ownership structure has changed significantly in recent years. Cube Infrastructure Managers (cubeinfrastructure.com) acquired firstcolo in November 2022. On August 14, 2026, CVC DIF (cvc.com) agreed to acquire a significant majority stake from Cube through CVC DIF Value Add IV. The founders remain active managers and shareholders. The transaction was expected to close by the end of September 2026, subject to customary conditions.

firstcolo is not a conventional mass-market hosting company centered on inexpensive shared hosting or standardized VPS packages. Its business is focused on colocation, private cages, dedicated servers, cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, managed hosting, managed virtualization, enterprise storage, firewalls, DDoS protection and IP transit. The company is particularly suitable for organizations that need customized infrastructure, physical data-center capacity and ongoing technical management rather than a simple hosting control panel.

Colocation is one of the central services. Customers can install their own servers in firstcolo's Frankfurt facilities and combine rack space with power, network connectivity, Remote Hands, monitoring, backup infrastructure and managed services. Colocation environments can be configured with availability commitments between 99.9% and 99.999%. The operating Frankfurt facilities reach PUE levels of approximately 1.2 to 1.25, and technical personnel are available around the clock.

For organizations requiring stronger physical separation, Private Cages provide individually secured areas inside the data center instead of ordinary shared rack installations. Configurations can include custom rack counts, copper and fiber connections and additional access-control measures. This makes the service suitable for larger corporate deployments, regulated environments and infrastructure requiring physical segregation.

The Dedicated Server service is based on individually designed configurations rather than a short list of standardized commodity servers. Systems can include conventional enterprise hardware, GPU/APU configurations for AI and machine-learning workloads, low-latency systems for VoIP and performance-sensitive applications, and clustered environments. Dedicated connectivity can reach 100 Gbit/s, while the service includes 24/7 Remote Hands, monitoring, network analysis and replacement of defective hardware.

firstcloud provides the virtualized cloud layer. Computing resources can be provisioned and managed through a central interface using GUI, API or CLI. The platform supports Identity & Access Management, public IP prefixes, GPU-powered instances and dedicated compute resources. Billing follows a pay-per-use model, making firstcloud more flexible than the company's longer-term colocation and dedicated-infrastructure contracts.

A Managed firstcloud option extends the platform with operational support covering configuration, maintenance, security, scaling and infrastructure architecture. This is useful for companies that need cloud flexibility without maintaining the complete virtualization and systems-management stack internally.

firstkube provides managed Kubernetes infrastructure for containerized workloads. The platform includes centralized cluster administration through a web interface together with CLI and REST API access for automation. Managed Hosting extends management across servers, network components, load balancers, security systems and monitoring. firstcolo can assume day-to-day operational responsibility rather than requiring the customer to maintain a complete internal infrastructure team. The company also provides Proxmox VE environments for virtualization and private-cloud deployments. Proxmox configurations can combine KVM and LXC virtualization with clustered storage and networking, while Managed Proxmox adds installation, configuration, maintenance and 24/7 monitoring. Storage on Demand uses a scalable storage-cluster architecture instead of requiring customers to purchase dedicated storage appliances in advance. Nextcloud as a Service provides managed collaboration and cloud storage from firstcolo's Frankfurt infrastructure. Installation, configuration, administration, maintenance and security updates can all be handled by firstcolo. Existing Active Directory and LDAP environments can be integrated, while Nextcloud provides file synchronization, contacts, calendars and collaboration functions.

The portfolio also includes Microsoft Services for Windows infrastructure, Active Directory and related Microsoft environments. These services can include configuration, ongoing operation, security patching, coordinated maintenance windows, security checks, 24/7 monitoring and Remote Hands. Availability can reach 99.999% with suitable architecture and service levels.

Security services include Managed Firewall and DDoS Protection. Managed Firewall covers configuration, monitoring, patches and fixes under continuous operation. DDoS protection uses Arbor technology together with firstcolo's multi-terabit network capacity to mitigate volumetric attacks, TCP-based attacks, application-layer attacks and fragmentation attacks. An Arbor Admin option gives customers direct access to the mitigation interface.

IP Transit makes firstcolo a network provider as well as a data-center operator. Connectivity can be supplied from 1 Gbit/s through 100 Gbit/s directly, with larger configurations possible. IP Transit carries a 99.99% uptime commitment and is available at several network locations.
