FastNom is an Italian hosting and domain-services brand operated by Planetel (planetel.it), a telecommunications and IT group headquartered in Treviolo, Bergamo. The FastNom brand dates back to 2009 and was originally operated by Mediasoft Solutions of Antonio Roberto Genna. On August 1, 2018, FastNom's activities and services passed from Mediasoft Solutions to Servizi Internet Srl. Servizi Internet was later incorporated into Planetel, with the definitive merger deed signed on October 11, 2021 and legal and commercial effect from November 1, 2021. FastNom now operates within Planetel's broader cloud and Internet-services structure.

Planetel itself dates from 1985 and has developed into an Italian telecommunications, fiber, cloud, cybersecurity and systems-integration group. This gives FastNom access to a substantially broader technical environment than a small standalone hosting company, including telecommunications infrastructure, data center resources and an established IP network.

FastNom covers Domains, Shared Hosting, Reseller Hosting, VPS, Dedicated Cloud, Email, SMTP services, SSL Certificates, Cloud Storage, External Backup and DNS-related services. The portfolio is predominantly Linux-oriented and does not currently center on traditional bare-metal dedicated server packages.

Hosting Low-Cost is the entry-level shared hosting range. Start includes 1 GB disk space, 10 GB monthly traffic, five email accounts, one MySQL database and one subdomain. Basic increases storage to 5 GB, provides unlimited traffic, ten email accounts and two MySQL databases. Plus includes 10 GB storage, unlimited traffic and email accounts, five databases and ten subdomains. These plans use Linux hosting in Italy and include DirectAdmin, FTP, webmail, antispam and antivirus protection, manual backup facilities, statistics and DNS management. The service level for this range is 99.8% uptime.

Hosting Pro Tutto Incluso is the more complete shared-hosting family. Personal, Premium and Professional support respectively one, three or five domains, with unlimited disk space and monthly traffic, unlimited email accounts, FTP accounts, subdomains and MySQL databases. Premium and Professional can host several separate websites from one hosting account.

Although the plans use unlimited-resource terminology, FastNom guarantees at least 10 GB of storage, while the practical guaranteed monthly traffic levels are 100 GB for Personal, 200 GB for Premium and 300 GB for Professional. Accounts generating unusually high resource consumption can be moved to a service better suited to their workload.

Hosting Pro uses Linux, Apache and DirectAdmin together with Installatron. WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, forums, e-commerce software and many other applications can be installed directly from the hosting control panel. Shared-server specifications include Intel Xeon processors, RAID 1 storage and 16 GB RAM.

Customers can create their own backups through DirectAdmin. FastNom also performs a weekly full-server backup to an external USB device for emergency recovery. These provider-side backups are not directly available to customers and should not replace independent backups maintained by the account owner.

The Hosting Reseller range is aimed at web agencies, developers and users managing several independent hosting accounts. Standard includes 50 GB storage, 200 GB monthly traffic and 10 DirectAdmin accounts. Business increases this to 100 GB, 500 GB and 20 accounts, while Advanced provides 200 GB, 1,000 GB and 40 accounts. Annual subscriptions include three, five or ten free domain names respectively. Email accounts, FTP accounts, subdomains and MySQL databases are unlimited, and an unlimited-bandwidth option is available for an additional fee.

The VPS Cloud range uses KVM virtualization with Linux x64, SSH root access and dedicated allocations of RAM, CPU, SSD storage and traffic. The main VPS configurations begin with 2 GB RAM, one CPU core and 50 GB SSD. The complete ordering range also extends to VPS 16G, with 16 GB RAM, six CPU cores, 320 GB SSD and 8 TB traffic, and VPS 32G, with 32 GB RAM, eight CPU cores, 640 GB SSD and 20 TB traffic. DirectAdmin with basic support can be added separately, along with snapshots and additional IP addresses.

FastNom also provides Cloud Dedicato configurations using dedicated cloud-compute resources rather than conventional bare-metal dedicated servers. Configurations range from four dedicated CPU cores, 8 GB RAM, 50 GB SSD and 5 TB traffic up to 16 dedicated cores, 32 GB RAM, 200 GB SSD and 7 TB traffic. These packages give customers a more powerful option when standard VPS resources are insufficient.

Email Business provides a professional 5 GB mailbox on a cloud collaboration platform with SMTP, POP3 and IMAP support, multilingual webmail, address book, calendar, tasks, forwarding, aliases, autoresponders, catch-all, antivirus and antispam protection. It can be associated with a domain registered through FastNom or with another registrar.

The ForMail SMTP range is suitable for customers needing authenticated outbound mail. ForMail Base includes one authenticated SMTP account, outbound antispam protection and up to 300 messages per day. Pro supports a custom domain, outbound antivirus protection, delivery logs and up to 1,000 messages per day. ForMail Business adds centralized management suitable for organizations and resellers and supports up to 50 domains with unlimited accounts for each custom domain. A separate mailing-list service is also available.

Domain registration remains an important part of FastNom's business. Services include domain registration and transfer, DNS management, URL forwarding and optional ID Protect privacy where supported. Transfers include an additional year of registration. A wide range of country-code, generic and specialty extensions is available, together with administrative services such as registrant changes, manual DNS modifications and local-presence services for selected country extensions.

SSL options include RapidSSL and GeoTrust certificates for regular and wildcard use. Free Let's Encrypt SSL is also available on DirectAdmin hosting, allowing normal websites to use HTTPS without purchasing a commercial certificate.

The Cloud Storage range provides encrypted online storage for individuals and organizations. Entry packages include one user with 100 GB or an organization package with ten users and 100 GB. Capacity can be increased in 100 GB increments. Access is available through web, desktop and mobile clients, with integration for services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Office 365, OneDrive and WebDAV. Separate external FTP backup storage is also available, starting from 50 GB.

FastNom also maintains AsterSwitchboard Pro, an operator-console product for Asterisk-based telephone systems. It supports environments including Asterisk PBX, FreePBX, Sangoma, Issabel and Yeastar and can be purchased as individual or multi-license packages.

SiteMaker belongs mainly to FastNom's older service generation and is no longer a central part of the current hosting range.

The infrastructure has also changed substantially since FastNom became part of Planetel. Hosted domains were progressively placed behind Cloudflare, adding another layer of traffic management and protection, while FastNom servers were migrated into Planetel's IP infrastructure.

FastNom operates primarily in Italian. The customer and ordering interface is considerably more multilingual and includes Arabic, Azerbaijani, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Persian, French, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Macedonian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Ukrainian. Products are priced in EUR.

The main FastNom interface has an older design compared with current mobile-first hosting companies, and some legacy content remains alongside newer product information. The ordering system is more comprehensive than the main product navigation, particularly for the larger VPS and Cloud Dedicato configurations. Customers should therefore pay attention to the final configuration and current price shown during ordering.
