📄 Editorial Review

Exact Hosting is a Canadian retail hosting and domain-services brand within Tucows (tucows.com) / opensrs.com. Its legal service operator is Tucows.com Co, and its customer-facing address is the Tucows office at 96 Mowat Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Exact Hosting traces its broader brand history to 1995, while an official Enom transition guide confirms that the company has supplied domain registration and email since 2007. The two dates are best understood separately: 1995 marks the historical origin associated with the brand, whereas 2007 is a documented operating date for those specific services. No founder can be attributed confidently to the present business. Exact Hosting now functions as a compact Tucows division, with Crunchbase placing the visible organization in the 1–10 employee range, supported by its parent's much larger domain-industry and compliance operations.

Its current range is built mainly for individuals, small businesses, and owners of conventional content sites. The principal services are shared web hosting, WordPress hosting, managed WordPress hosting, a website builder, enhanced email, and domain registration. SSL certificates and DNS services are also available through the ordering system. There is no prominent retail route for new public-cloud instances, VPS packages, or dedicated servers. Reseller, VPS, dedicated-server, and WHM instructions remain in the knowledge base for existing accounts, which suggests support for inherited or legacy services without establishing that these products remain open to new orders. A prospective customer should therefore use the current catalog, not the full support archive, as the measure of what can be purchased today.

Shared hosting follows a familiar cPanel structure. Five tiers use SSD storage, include a free domain-validated SSL certificate, support PHP 7.4 or later, and combine AWStats with more than 100 one-click applications through Softaculous. Small covers one website with 5 GB storage, 20 GB transfer, five mailboxes, and two MySQL databases. Medium increases this to three sites, 15 GB storage, 50 GB transfer, 15 mailboxes, and ten databases. Large reaches five sites, 30 GB storage, 80 GB transfer, 20 mailboxes, and 20 databases. X-Large and XX-Large retain the five-site cap while raising storage to 60 GB and 80 GB, transfer to 125 GB and 200 GB, and mailboxes to 30 and 50. This is an easy-to-follow but deliberately bounded progression rather than an elastic cloud platform or a high-density reseller environment.

The standard WordPress range also has five sizes, but each permits only one site. Allowances move from 5 GB storage and 25 GB transfer to 45 GB and 200 GB. Every tier includes five MySQL databases, a staging copy, free DV SSL, the Divi theme, iThemes Security, and WordPress Manager assistance for core, theme, and plugin updates. Email capacity rises from five to 50 accounts, each with a 10 GB mailbox. cPanel and Softaculous are not part of these packages, so their administration differs from conventional shared hosting. Even at the upper end, this remains a product for one growing publication, store, or business site, not an agency bundle for many unrelated WordPress installations.

Managed WordPress adds daily off-site backups, continuous malware monitoring and removal, staging, and managed core, plugin, and theme updates. Four visible tiers range from 25 GB storage and 25 GB premium transfer to 150 GB of each, while included email accounts rise from five to 30. Each tier still covers one WordPress site and five databases. The higher fee buys maintenance, security handling, and recovery convenience rather than a larger site count. That trade can make sense for a small company without a WordPress administrator, while technically capable owners may find the less expensive WordPress series sufficient.

Website Builder provides a simpler route to an online presence. Basic includes ten pages, 250 MB storage, 47 templates, and one mailbox. Pro allows 50 pages, 2 GB, 189 templates, and three mailboxes. Business expands to 300 pages, a 1 TB storage allowance, 208 templates, five mailboxes, and web-store functions. All three include drag-and-drop editing and a free DV SSL certificate. This can work well for a brochure site or modest catalog where editing simplicity matters more than application freedom. The unusually large Business storage allowance does not by itself turn the builder into a server product; page, commerce, database, and processing restrictions still matter.

Enhanced Email is priced per mailbox. Small, Medium, and Large provide 10 GB, 20 GB, and 30 GB respectively, together with POP, IMAP, webmail, spam filtering, forwarding, and vacation autoresponders. A forwarding-only product costs less, and customers on shared, WordPress, managed WordPress, or builder plans can request an upgrade to the enhanced platform. Domain customers receive DNS management, transfer assistance, and access to more than 100 extensions. A normal transfer adds one year to the registration term when registry rules allow it. Domains, invoices, contacts, support requests, and hosting services can all be managed from the same client area.

Exact Hosting has also become a destination for customer portfolios transferred from other providers. Webs/Vistaprint domain and email accounts moved in 2023, while the old Webs builder followed a separate shutdown schedule. EnomCentral domain and email management later moved within the same parent group. Performive/CloudFirst hosted services transitioned on January 13, 2026, followed by Chillidog Hosting on February 9, 2026. The Chillidog transaction is expressly identified as an acquisition, with products, prices, and infrastructure initially kept unchanged. A Lycos partnership provides another continuity route for custom-domain mailboxes, although addresses on the Lycos-owned domain cannot be retained as Exact Hosting addresses. These migrations explain why some account holders arrive without making a fresh retail choice, and why orderly onboarding is as important here as the product specifications.
