📄 Editorial Review

Ergonet is an Italian web hosting and cloud services company founded in 2006, with headquarters in Viterbo and an operational office in Collegno, near Turin. The company has concentrated on hosting, domains, professional email, managed cloud infrastructure and related Internet services for businesses, agencies and individual website owners. Corporate information from 2023 identifies Pierluigi Capocecera and Alessio Lustri as equal shareholders, each holding 50% of Ergonet S.r.l., and both serving as administrators.

One of Ergonet's more unusual characteristics is its decision to build its own hosting-management platform. Development of WebPanel began around the company's foundation in 2006, avoiding dependence on commercial hosting panels and allowing account management, technical administration, billing, renewals and support to remain closely integrated. Ergonet also holds registered trademarks and patents connected with technologies including Live Staging and its backup architecture.

The company operates under several professional certifications, including ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 27017 and ISO/IEC 27018. It also has ACN cloud qualification for Italian public-sector use, RIPE NCC membership and registrar accreditation for .it, .edu.it and .eu domains.

The principal shared hosting family is Hosting Valore, with specialized packages for WordPress, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Moodle/e-learning, Joomla and general Linux/PHP hosting. These services use NVMe storage and include daily backup, SSL certificates, HTTP/3, professional email hosted separately from the website platform, website migration assistance, WebPanel administration and Ergonet's Fireshield security technology. Traffic and inode usage are not restricted by conventional monthly quotas.

The principal shared packages are Equilibrio, Progresso and Successo. Storage starts at 10 GB NVMe with Equilibrio, increases to 50 GB with Progresso and reaches 100 GB with Successo. Website and database backup retention is 15, 30 and 60 days respectively, while email backups are retained for seven days. Higher packages add more development and performance tools, including SSH access, WP-CLI, Git, Composer and PHP cron jobs.

NGINX and OPcache are available from the entry level, while Progresso and Successo additionally include Varnish, Redis and Memcached. MariaDB is used for databases, and multiple PHP versions are available so older applications can remain compatible while newer projects use current PHP releases.

WordPress hosting includes several useful management functions without requiring separate third-party services. Live Staging creates a development copy of a WordPress site that can be modified and tested before changes are transferred to production. Storage consumed by the staging environment does not reduce the normal hosting quota. WordPress and WooCommerce accounts can also use AI-assisted site-building features.

The hosting architecture separates frontend and administrative workloads, which can be particularly valuable for WordPress and WooCommerce sites during periods of heavier visitor activity. CDN integration is available through Cloudflare, providing a straightforward way to improve delivery speed and geographical reach.

WooCommerce and PrestaShop hosting begin with the more powerful Progresso level, while Moodle and e-learning installations can move from shared resources to dedicated cloud capacity as usage and concurrent-user requirements increase. General Linux hosting remains available for PHP, HTML and custom applications that do not require a CMS-specific package. The current product range is primarily Linux-based rather than Windows-oriented.

For projects requiring dedicated resources, Cloud Hosting provides a fully managed virtual environment intended for one main website or application. CPU, RAM, storage and IP resources are reserved for the customer rather than shared in the same way as conventional shared hosting. Configurations begin with 2 CPU cores, 4 GB RAM and 40 GB NVMe storage and can reach 16 CPU cores and 32 GB RAM, with disk capacity configurable up to 1 TB.

Ergonet manages the operating system and the principal web stack, including PHP, MariaDB, Apache and NGINX, together with system updates, monitoring and routine administration. SSH access is available to advanced customers, but the service is designed as managed cloud hosting rather than an unmanaged root-access VPS.

Cloud Multidominio is aimed at agencies, developers and hosting resellers that manage multiple customer websites. It uses a dedicated managed virtual server and permits multiple websites according to the CPU, RAM and storage capacity selected. WebPanel supports white-label access, delegated customer and staff accounts, ACL permissions, customizable hosting packages and centralized renewal and billing functions.

Reference configurations range from environments suited to roughly 40 websites to larger systems intended for approximately 300 sites. This makes Cloud Multidominio considerably closer to a managed agency and reseller platform than to a basic shared reseller account.

Ergonet also provides domain registration, with more than 300 available extensions, including numerous new gTLDs and specialized .edu.it services for Italian educational organizations. Additional services include ErgoMail professional email, PEC certified email and SSL certificates.

ErgoMail operates independently from website-hosting servers and includes DNS administration, antispam and antivirus protection, webmail, backups and a customizable HTML landing page. PEC is available either using an @ergopec.it mailbox or with a customer's own domain.

The website is available in Italian and English, while products are priced in EUR. Italian remains especially important for contractual and administrative documentation.
