📄 Editorial Review

Ehiweb is an independent Italian internet, hosting and telecommunications provider operated by Ehinet S.r.l., with operational headquarters in Bologna. The company was formally established on March 18, 2004, following several years of collaboration between founders Luigi De Luca, Gilberto Di Maccio, Matteo Sgalaberni and Daniele Mariano. Their respective backgrounds cover communications, sales, technology and administration, giving Ehiweb a structure that developed from internet services into a broader telecommunications business.

The company initially concentrated on domains, hosting and SMS services, later expanding into fiber connectivity, VoIP, mobile services and business communications. Its current portfolio includes domain registration, Linux web hosting, WordPress hosting, Cloud Server, Server Plesk, fiber connectivity, dedicated business connectivity, VoIP, virtual PBX, mobile SIM services, SMS, online fax and reseller services. Ehiweb is also an accredited .IT registrar under the EHI-REG identifier.

Conventional Hosting Web with Domain combines a domain registration with 2 GB of web space, five email accounts, 25 GB of monthly traffic, FTP access, File Manager, website statistics and SSL. Hosting Web without Domain increases storage to 10 GB and adds MySQL or PostgreSQL support, with 10 GB of monthly traffic and a 100 MB database allocation.

The shared hosting environment runs on Linux and supports PHP, Perl, Python, CGI, SSI, POP3, IMAP, webmail, FTP, Let's Encrypt SSL certificates, programmable backups, statistics, log access and file-management functions. These packages remain best suited to small and medium-size websites rather than projects requiring very large storage or traffic allocations.

The WordPress Hosting range is available both with and without a domain. The packages include 5 GB of storage, five mailboxes, 10 GB of monthly traffic, FTP access, File Manager, website statistics, antivirus and antispam protection. WordPress comes preinstalled and software updates are included. The domain-inclusive plan supports popular extensions including .it, .eu, .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz and .name.

More demanding customers can use the Cloud Server platform. The basic configuration includes Debian, a 2.3 GHz CPU allocation, 1 GB RAM, 50 GB SSD storage, static IP addressing, SSH access and unlimited monthly traffic. Additional resources, backup, monitoring and Plesk can be added when required.

The Server Plesk service combines virtual-server resources with Plesk administration and is particularly useful for agencies, developers and customers managing several websites. It provides considerably more control than ordinary shared hosting without requiring customers to build a complete server-management environment from scratch.

Hosting capacity can also be expanded through individual upgrades for storage, mailboxes, database space, subdomains and monthly traffic. This gives smaller plans some room for growth before a move to a virtual server becomes necessary.

Domain registration remains an important part of the business. As an accredited .IT registrar, Ehiweb handles Italian domains directly and also provides international extensions such as .com, .net, .org, .biz, .eu, .info and .name. More than 270 geographic extensions are available, together with a broad selection of newer thematic TLDs. Domain transfers generally take between one and seven working days depending on the registry involved.

Ehiweb also operates reseller and partner programs covering connectivity, VoIP, mobile services, SMS, domains, hosting and server products. The Business Partner model allows Ehiweb to provide customer assistance directly, while the Wholesale model offers greater commercial independence to operators managing their own customer relationships.

The company completely renewed its website in 2024, replacing a design that had been used for roughly twelve years. The current interface is modern and adapted to both desktop and mobile devices. Services are primarily intended for the Italian market and the website operates mainly in Italian. No complete multi-language/localized version exist. Hosting and domain prices are quoted in EUR, generally before Italian VAT.
