📄 Editorial Review
DotBlock is a U.S. infrastructure hosting company based in Clifton Park, New York, with a history dating back to 1999. It operates as a sister company and subsidiary of HostRocket (HostRocket.com, Inc.) and was originally developed around independently sourced VPS hosting. Brendan Brader is the co-founder and CEO, while John Reyes is co-founder and CTO. The company has operated from New York's Tech Valley for many years and has hosted approximately 50,000 websites during its history.DotBlock concentrates on infrastructure services rather than entry-level shared hosting. Its core portfolio includes Cloud VPS, Dedicated Servers, Colocation, Private Cloud, and Enterprise Storage, together with managed services and a range of networking and security add-ons.
Cloud VPS uses KVM virtualization and SSD RAID-10 storage, with guaranteed CPU resources, VNC/web console access, and scalable configurations. The service uses a block-based model that makes it possible to increase CPU, RAM, storage, and bandwidth progressively without changing to an entirely different hosting platform.
Dedicated servers range from value-oriented Intel Xeon E5 systems to newer Xeon Silver configurations. NVMe RAID storage and gigabit connectivity are available, making these systems suitable for applications that need dedicated CPU resources or larger storage capacity.
Private Cloud is designed for considerably larger deployments. Individual nodes can provide up to 40 CPU cores, while multi-node environments can scale to approximately 1,200 cores. KVM is used as the virtualization layer, and customers can create and manage multiple virtual servers through a web-based management interface. The platform can also be used for VPS resale or internal business infrastructure.
The broader service portfolio includes hardware firewalls, load balancing, private networking, VPN, DNS and domain registration, SSL certificates, backups, monitoring, managed administration, DDoS mitigation, and additional IP addresses. Enterprise Storage covers larger distributed-storage requirements, while reseller deployments can combine VPS or Private Cloud infrastructure with cPanel/WHM.
Managed VPS and dedicated hosting add proactive service monitoring, server hardening, backups, software maintenance, initial migration assistance, DDoS protection, priority support, and administrative help. Managed dedicated servers include as much as 1 TB of backup storage, while managed VPS services include up to 500 GB.
DotBlock also maintains SOC 2 credentials and supports infrastructure intended for compliance-sensitive deployments, including environments that need PCI or HIPAA-oriented configurations.
The main commercial interface is in English, with pricing normally displayed in USD. The billing platform also supports alternative currency display and localized interfaces. Some parts of the frontend retain an older design and older copyright information, so the customer-facing presentation is less polished than that of many newer cloud platforms, even though the active service catalog and billing system remain functional.
