dotFM is a specialized domain registry and registrar service operated by BRS Media (brsmedia.com), a San Francisco company established in 1995. Founder, Chairman and CEO George T. Bundy came from the radio industry, and this background helped shape the company's focus on Internet naming for radio, broadcasting, music and digital media. The dotFM service launched on April 6, 1998, when BRS Media and FSM Telecom opened the .FM namespace to registrations worldwide.

Although .FM is the country-code Top-Level Domain associated with the Federated States of Micronesia, it has developed a much broader international identity. Radio stations were an obvious early market, but the extension has become equally relevant for podcasts, musicians, streaming services, audio platforms, entertainment projects and brands that can naturally incorporate "FM" into their name.

dotFM is primarily a domain registry and registrar, rather than a conventional web hosting company. Its services center on domain registrations, renewals, transfers, DNS management, premium domains, expired domains and related domain-management tools.
