📄 Editorial Review
CSL Data Centre Services is a Malta-based systems integrator, cloud infrastructure and data-center provider operating through CSL Data Centre Services Limited. The legal entity was incorporated on December 23, 1986 under Malta registration number C 8487, giving the business several decades of experience in enterprise IT and infrastructure. Anton Cristina is CEO and a director of the company, with the main operational presence in Birkirkara, Malta.CSL is considerably more infrastructure-focused than a conventional web host. Its portfolio covers Shared Cloud, Private Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, Bare-Metal Servers, Colocation, Managed Services, Security Services, Disaster Recovery and Hardware Maintenance. The target customer is primarily a business that needs virtual machines, dedicated infrastructure, rack space, managed operating systems, networking, backup, security or resilient disaster-recovery environments rather than a simple shared-hosting account.
The company operates three data centers in Malta and supports more than 100 customers with infrastructure design, configuration, implementation and ongoing management. Workloads can run on customer premises or inside CSL facilities. The company has roughly 30 employees, within an 11-50 employee organization, while its infrastructure supports more than 50 gaming companies and over 10 investment banks. This makes regulated gaming, financial services and enterprise IT especially important parts of its customer base.
The Shared Cloud, known internally as Project Laya, runs on CSL-owned multi-tenant compute and storage infrastructure. Customers remain logically isolated while CSL manages the underlying platform. Both Windows and Linux virtual machines are available, together with SAS and flash-based storage tiers. Optional services cover managed networking, operating-system administration and managed backup.
Shared Cloud customers receive a web portal with infrastructure visibility, snapshots, power controls and console access. Standard deployments can normally be completed within one or two days after contract signature.
Shared Cloud is suitable for production workloads, disaster recovery and hybrid environments. LAN traffic on typical configurations is unmetered at up to 10 Gbps. A smaller configuration includes 2 vCPU cores, 6 GB RAM and 80 GB of SSD-tier storage, while larger examples extend to Windows Server, 48 GB RAM, 500 GB SSD-tier storage, 1 TB SAS storage and Microsoft SQL Server Standard licensing.
The Private Cloud, known as Project Blackbox, provides hardware and software reserved for a single tenant. A deployment can combine physical servers, storage systems, network switches, storage-fabric switches, load balancers and firewall appliances. CSL manages the environment through the operating-system layer, while physical and virtual workloads can coexist within the same architecture.
This model is particularly suitable for resource-intensive software, special CPU or storage requirements, licensing constraints and workloads where regulatory or operational requirements favor dedicated infrastructure. Private Cloud can also connect to Shared Cloud or external cloud environments for backup and disaster recovery. Typical deployment time is around two weeks from contract signature.
The Hybrid Cloud service connects CSL infrastructure with third-party cloud platforms. Deployments can combine CSL Shared or Private Cloud with Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure. The service can cover cloud-instance deployment, inter-cloud VPN tunnels, tenant configuration, database replication and cloud backup management.
A production environment can remain at CSL while disaster recovery operates in another cloud, or the arrangement can be reversed. High-availability web and database architectures can also be distributed between separate environments, allowing customers to avoid depending entirely on one infrastructure platform.
Bare-Metal Servers are aimed at customers needing dedicated physical resources or hardware-level control. CSL can handle RAID configuration, VLANs, VPNs, access lists, out-of-band management and operating-system installation before handing the server over to the customer.
Independent out-of-band access remains available after deployment, allowing administrators to reach the hardware even if the operating system becomes unavailable. CPU, disk and other hardware combinations can be customized rather than being limited to a fixed set of preconfigured machines.
Bare-metal configurations support Linux and Windows, public IPv4 addresses, managed Layer 3/4 firewalling and dedicated Internet bandwidth. Some of the standard server examples use Intel Xeon E5 v4 hardware, so performance-sensitive customers should confirm the exact current processor generation and storage platform included with a new deployment.
Colocation is another central service. Customers can install their own equipment inside CSL facilities while purchasing rack space, electrical power, cooling and Internet connectivity. Colocation can also be used temporarily during cloud migrations or permanently as part of a hybrid infrastructure combining customer-owned hardware with CSL cloud services.
The Managed Services portfolio goes considerably beyond basic server monitoring. Services include instance- and agent-based backups, outsourced IT helpdesk operations, switching and firewall administration, load balancing, SSL offloading, web-application firewall protection, two-factor authentication, DDoS mitigation, WebDAV-accessible cloud storage, centralized event logging, database administration and web-server management.
Database expertise covers MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server and MongoDB, while web-server administration includes Apache, NGINX and IIS. Corporate email environments can use Google services, Microsoft 365 or dedicated infrastructure. Directory services, single sign-on and scale-out storage are also available.
The Security Services portfolio includes managed edge firewalls, infrastructure hardening, operating-system hardening, centralized authentication, event logging, host- and network-based intrusion prevention, anti-malware protection, internal and external vulnerability assessment, web application firewalls and Layer 3 through Layer 7 DDoS mitigation.
CSL is ISO 27001 certified, while PCI DSS certification is also associated with its enterprise security framework. These capabilities are particularly relevant to financial organizations, gaming operators and other customers handling regulated or security-sensitive workloads.
The Disaster Recovery service can replicate customer systems between CSL infrastructure and third-party environments through IPSec VPN connectivity. Supported designs include hypervisor-level replication, backup-and-replication platforms, database availability groups, database log shipping, geographically distributed load balancing and replicated backup jobs.
Bandwidth can be temporarily increased when a disaster-recovery platform becomes the active production environment. CSL can also assist with scheduled DR exercises so that recovery procedures, RPO objectives and RTO objectives are tested before an actual incident.
Customers whose production environment already operates in one CSL facility can use a physically separate Malta data center for disaster recovery. Work-area recovery facilities are also available, allowing customer personnel to continue working after a major incident. These areas include Windows workstations, telephone service and direct gigabit connectivity to systems hosted within CSL infrastructure, with 24/7 controlled access.
The website operates in English, while commercial pricing is primarily in euros. The overall service model is built for business and enterprise buyers familiar with infrastructure terminology rather than beginners looking for basic website hosting.
