Control Engineering d.o.o. is a Croatian hosting and infrastructure company based in Zagreb, operating its commercial hosting services under the CROWEB.HOST brand. The company was established in 2013, while the people behind the business already had more than 15 years of experience with web hosting, server administration, domains, and Internet security. Slađan Ilić is the founder, sole owner, and director.

Control Engineering started on a relatively small scale at Avenija Dubrava 248, where the initial infrastructure consisted of one server room, two racks, HP servers, Cisco switching equipment, UPS protection, and a single Internet provider. Connectivity initially operated at 100 Mbps and was later increased to 300 Mbps. During this early period, the company also developed its own KVM-based VPS platform and web hosting administration software.

Growth between 2014 and 2017 brought additional HPE servers and a second Internet carrier, providing network redundancy. A significantly larger expansion followed in 2017, when operations moved into the current Zagreb data center. The new facility was roughly ten times larger than the original server room and added more carriers together with 10 Gbps network connections.

One of the strongest characteristics of Control Engineering is that they operate their own data center in Zagreb. Server, network, power, colocation, physical security, VPS, and hosting infrastructure therefore remain under direct company control rather than being entirely dependent on a third-party hosting facility.

The service portfolio includes Cloud Web Hosting, Reseller Hosting, Linux VPS, Windows VPS, Dedicated Servers, Colocation, Domains, SSL Certificates, Backup Services, Managed Services, VPN, cloud storage, network upgrades, hardware upgrades, and related technical services. This creates a useful upgrade path from a small website account to virtual servers, physical servers, and eventually colocated customer hardware.

Cloud Web Hosting includes anti-DDoS protection, proactive firewall protection, free SSL certificates, automated backups, Virtualmin Professional, and more than 100 installable web applications. The range starts with Web Micro, providing 1 GB storage and 50 GB monthly traffic for one website, and extends to Web Corporate with 50 GB storage, 1 TB monthly traffic, and support for as many as 20 websites.

Email accounts, databases, FTP accounts, and subdomains are generously allocated within the applicable hosting resource limits. Web Micro works well for small websites, while Starter, Advanced, Ultimate, and Corporate provide increasingly larger allocations for businesses and multi-site users.

Shared hosting storage uses SAS disks with RAID protection. This is a proven enterprise storage arrangement, although customers with disk-intensive applications may prefer the newer SSD and PureSSD platforms available with the VPS products.

Reseller Hosting provides a white-label environment for developers, agencies, and customers running their own hosting businesses. Packages range from Reseller Micro through Starter and Advanced to Ultimate. Virtualmin Professional is included, together with SSL, backups, website management, databases, FTP, and email functionality.

The Linux VPS platform uses KVM virtualization with guaranteed resources. Customers receive Croatian IPv4 addresses, root SSH access, and Virtualizor management. More than 40 Linux templates are available, covering systems such as AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, CentOS, and openSUSE.

Nano Linux VPS provides 512 MB RAM, 10 GB PureSSD storage, and 500 GB monthly transfer, while the larger Corporate Linux VPS reaches 8 GB RAM, eight CPU cores, 400 GB PureSSD storage, 6 TB transfer, and a 1 Gbps dedicated connection. Custom configurations can add CPU, RAM, storage, IPv4 addresses, bandwidth, and faster network ports.

Windows VPS uses the same KVM virtualization platform and provides administrator-level RDP access. Windows licensing, operating-system upgrades, and proactive monthly maintenance are included. Available systems include Windows Server 2012, 2016, 2019, 2022, and 2025, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB/LTSC, and Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC.

The Windows VPS range extends from Starter to Corporate, with custom configurations also possible for customers requiring larger resource allocations.

Dedicated Servers are built mainly around HPE ProLiant rack and blade hardware and include HPE iLO Advanced remote management. Available systems include DL-series rack servers, BL460c blades, and WS460c workstation blades.

Dedicated Startup uses an HPE ProLiant DL360 G7 with Xeon E5640, 16 GB ECC RAM, configurable enterprise SATA, SAS, or SSD storage, 10 TB monthly bandwidth, HPE iLO3 Advanced, and a 100 Mbps dedicated connection. Dedicated Ultimate uses a DL380p Gen8 with dual Xeon E5-2650 v2 processors, 128 GB ECC RAM, considerably larger storage possibilities, 50 TB bandwidth, and a 500 Mbps dedicated connection.

Some predefined dedicated configurations use mature HPE G7/G8 and Xeon E5-generation hardware. These systems remain suitable for many storage, virtualization, legacy application, and budget-oriented workloads, but customers needing maximum per-core performance or newer processor architectures should request a custom server configuration.

Colocation is an important part of the business, with packages for 1U, 2U, 4U, and tower systems. Additional rack space, power, network capacity, and IP resources can be ordered separately.

The 1U package supports equipment consuming up to 400 W and includes a flat 100/100 Mbps connection, one static IPv4 address, UPS and generator protection, fire protection, monitoring, and physical or console access. Tower Colocation supports much larger systems with power allocations up to 1,000 W and a 200/200 Mbps unmetered network connection.

Domain services cover more than 700 extensions through partner registrars. Registration and renewal services are available directly alongside hosting products, making it possible to keep domain and infrastructure management under the same customer account.

SSL certificates are available from Sectigo, SSL.com, and Certum, covering DV, OV, EV, and specialized certificate requirements. CSR generation and SSL installation are included without an additional installation fee.

Additional services make the platform considerably more flexible than a basic web hosting operation. Customers can add Croatian IPv4 addresses, bandwidth, links up to 10 Gbps, VPN service, enterprise storage, additional RAM, managed administration, remote hands, and dedicated backup capacity. OwnCloud and Nextcloud storage is also available.

The corporate website is primarily in Croatian, while CROWEB.HOST provides an English-language commercial and ordering interface. Services are priced in EUR.
