CenterServ is a Montreal-based infrastructure provider specializing in cloud infrastructure (IaaS), dedicated servers / bare metal, and custom server deployment in agreed geographic locations. The operation has roots going back to 2002, while services are currently provided by 11519654 Canada Inc., doing business as CenterServ.

The current infrastructure model is centered on placing cloud and dedicated server resources in the country or city selected for the order. CenterServ owns the server hardware used for its cloud and dedicated hosting services, including deployments across a network covering more than 400 locations worldwide. This does not mean that CenterServ owns the physical data-center buildings in every location; facility, power, cooling, network and other infrastructure components may be shared or operated by other infrastructure providers.

The two principal products are Cloud Servers and Dedicated Servers. Cloud servers provide the virtualized CPU, memory, storage and network resources defined in the accepted order, while dedicated servers reserve the ordered physical server for the customer. Resources, licenses, networking limits, location and any optional management are determined by the individual order rather than assumed as universal inclusions.

A particularly useful part of CenterServ's model is geographic deployment flexibility. Customers can select from locations across North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, with the physical city or country confirmed as part of the accepted order. CenterServ does not substitute another city or country without agreement, and alternatives or cancellation arrangements apply if the contracted location or configuration cannot be delivered.

Standard CenterServ server service is unmanaged. Customers therefore remain responsible for their operating systems, applications, patches, access controls, software configuration and hosted data unless a separate management scope has expressly been agreed. Administration, migrations, application maintenance, disaster recovery and other specialist technical services are not automatic components of an ordinary cloud or dedicated server plan.

Automatic server backups are also not included with standard cloud or dedicated services. Customers need to maintain independent, current and recoverable backups. RAID, snapshots, replication or an additional disk inside the same server should not automatically be considered a substitute for an independent backup. Any backup or recovery service specifically ordered has the scope defined in that agreement.

This makes CenterServ better suited to customers who understand infrastructure management or organizations that can define their required administration and deployment scope in advance. The accepted order is especially important with this provider because location, resources, licenses, network limits, management and other optional services can vary between deployments.
