📄 Editorial Review

Asadal is one of South Korea’s longest-running internet-service companies. Founder Seo Chang-nyeong started the business on February 15, 1998, initially operating it from a small home office in Seoul. Asadal Co., Ltd. was formally incorporated on April 14, 2000. The company later grew to approximately 200 employees, with KRW 850 million in capital and reported revenue of KRW 22.2 billion for 2020.

The business has developed far beyond conventional web hosting. Its operations cover domain registration, Linux and Windows hosting, email services, dedicated servers, colocation, network infrastructure, managed security, website development, digital content, software solutions, system integration, and public-sector maintenance. Overseas expansion included a Chinese subsidiary established in Yanji in August 2008 and a Japanese subsidiary opened in Tokyo in September 2009.

Several acquisitions contributed to this growth. Asadal acquired the hosting operations of Covis Network in 2005, New21 Community in 2006, and BadaNet in 2007. It also absorbed businesses involved in digital design, software solutions, and related internet services. Parts of the organization were subsequently separated into Asadal System and Tago Mobility during 2021.

The domain division handles international domains, Korean domains, transfers, renewals, ownership changes, DNS administration, domain forwarding, and parking. Available extensions include .COM, .NET, .ORG, .BIZ, .INFO, .ASIA, .KR, .한국, and many country-code domains. This makes Asadal suitable for Korean businesses that prefer to keep domain administration, hosting, email, and website management under one account.

Its shared-hosting portfolio includes Smart, General, Premium, Wiki, Mobile, and agency-oriented services. Linux hosting supports PHP, MySQL, FTP, and SSH or Telnet access where included, while Windows hosting supports ASP and Microsoft SQL Server. Resource allocations range from small mobile and Wiki accounts to agency plans capable of accommodating large numbers of customer websites.

The Smart range combines Linux or Windows hosting with email accounts, database capacity, daily database backups, traffic management, and access to proprietary Asadal website tools. Premium packages provide larger storage and transfer allowances, while agency hosting enables developers and resellers to manage between 10 and 200 customer accounts. Agency packages can also include email accounts, SMS credits, customer administration tools, and CDP-style backup functions.

Wiki hosting includes a free entry-level package, although annual renewal remains necessary. Mobile hosting incorporates the Asapro mobile website builder. Separate plans are available for images, multimedia streaming, email, groupware, SMS messaging, electronic tax invoices, domain forwarding, and domain parking. Dedicated email hosting ranges from a single mailbox to packages containing 100 email accounts and 100 GB of combined capacity.

The server division offers VPS, dedicated servers, colocation, managed servers, backup services, monitoring, VPN connectivity, CDN delivery, firewalls, web application firewalls, UTM protection, IPS protection, vulnerability assessments, and L4 load balancing. VPS customers receive root access and public IP addresses, while colocation can be ordered by rack unit, partial rack, full rack, or dedicated bandwidth allocation.

Security services are more extensive than those offered by many traditional shared-hosting companies. Customers can combine their server environment with shared or dedicated firewalls, intrusion-prevention systems, unified threat-management equipment, web application filtering, vulnerability scanning, load balancing, and monitored security appliances. These services are particularly suitable for Korean companies and public-sector organizations that need infrastructure, security, and systems maintenance from one provider.

Asadal also maintains a substantial system-integration division. Its work includes government websites, public-institution portals, accessibility-compliant services, infrastructure platforms, and systems built around South Korea’s electronic-government framework. Organizations requiring hosting, custom development, accessibility work, and ongoing maintenance can therefore obtain these services through the same company.

The main concern is the age of parts of the product catalog. Several sections still contain references to 32-bit hosting, Windows Media streaming, MMS addresses, older browser environments, legacy security appliances, and previous generations of Dell, HP, IBM, Sun, and Supermicro servers. Dedicated-server models such as the Dell R410, R610, and R710 are no longer modern infrastructure choices.

The website also retains an older, fixed-width design with image-heavy navigation and limited usability on smaller screens. Although the company remains active, prospective customers should request exact specifications before ordering a server or specialist hosting product. The quotation should identify the current processor generation, storage technology, operating system, software versions, security updates, backup policy, hardware replacement terms, and included support.

The primary website language is Korean, and prices are displayed in South Korean won (KRW). Chinese and Japanese subsidiaries have operated within the wider corporate structure, but the Korean website remains the principal service environment. International customers without Korean-language assistance may find account registration, billing, legal terms, and technical support difficult to manage.
