ALFA WEB is a Romanian web hosting and domain-services company established on January 3, 2005, in Ploiești, Prahova. Its history goes back more than two decades, with hosting, domain registration and related IT services remaining the main business activities. ALFA WEB S.R.L. is an active Romanian company, and Petre Lupu is identified as administrator.

The service portfolio covers Linux Shared Hosting, VPS, Dedicated Servers, domain registration, SSL certificates, website development and outsourced IT services. The company mainly targets Romanian customers, although an English-language version is also available for important hosting, domain and company sections. Hosting and domain prices are generally displayed in euros, while invoices issued in Romania are calculated in RON at the National Bank of Romania exchange rate.

Shared hosting is divided into seven plans: Alfa, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Lambda, Sigma and Omega. The range starts with a compact 250 MB account and progresses to Omega with 40 GB of storage, unlimited hosted domains, databases, email accounts, FTP accounts, subdomains and traffic. Beta includes 2 GB storage and one database, Gamma increases this to 5 GB and 20 databases, Delta provides 10 GB, Lambda 20 GB, Sigma 30 GB and Omega 40 GB.

All shared packages use cPanel and include POP3, IMAP and WebMail access, antivirus and antispam protection, plus automated backups. SSH access is not part of the standard shared-hosting packages. Customers can purchase additional resources separately or move to a larger shared package or VPS when their requirements increase.

The shared-hosting platform uses Dell PowerEdge R740 servers with Xeon Gold processors, ECC memory and RAID1 SAS storage. Separate physical storage is used for backups. Weekly backups are retained for up to one month, while customers are still expected to maintain independent copies of important data.

The VPS range consists of three configurations. The entry plan includes 1 GB RAM, one CPU core and 50 GB storage, followed by 2 GB RAM, two cores and 100 GB, and 4 GB RAM, four cores and 200 GB. Storage uses RAID1, backup capacity matching the VPS storage allocation is included, and packages provide between one and three IP addresses together with unlimited traffic. Linux server software includes Apache, MySQL, ProFTPD, phpMyAdmin and other standard components, with root-level administration available.

Dedicated Servers provide a complete physical server environment for customers requiring more isolation and control. Linux-based deployments can include Apache, MySQL or MariaDB, ProFTPD, phpMyAdmin, Dovecot, Postfix, Webalizer and RoundCube. Remote configuration and server customization are also available. Dedicated configurations are handled individually rather than through a detailed fixed-price hardware catalog.

Domain registration has been part of AlfaWeb's business since its first year. The company has been an accredited .RO registrar and official partner of RoTLD since 2005, handling .ro registrations and several Romanian second-level namespaces. International domains are handled through a relationship with eNom, also dating from 2005. Extensions such as .COM, .NET, .ORG, .EU and .DE are available, together with domain-management functions including nameserver changes, contact updates, EPP transfers and optional WHOIS privacy for supported extensions.

SSL certificates form another separate product category, with Sectigo, GeoTrust and legacy Symantec-branded options covering DV, OV, EV, wildcard and multi-domain requirements. AlfaWeb also provides website design and development, server and network administration, information-security work, remote technical assistance and outsourced IT support.

The main weakness is the age of the website and some of its technical information. The design belongs to an older desktop-oriented generation, the footer still carries 2024 copyright information, and the news archive effectively stops in 2016. Some technical references are also outdated, including old PHP, cPanel, CentOS and processor examples. Customers ordering hosting today should therefore confirm the active PHP versions, operating systems, database software, cPanel release and dedicated-server hardware before purchase.
