📄 Editorial Review

Alentus is a long-established Canadian web hosting company with roots dating to 1997. The business began as Pacific Netware, incorporated in Edmonton as Pacific Netware.com, Inc. in 1999, and adopted the Alentus name in 2001. An important change came in 2017, when Wolfpaw Data Centres acquired the Canadian assets, trademarks, and customers of Alentus Corporation. Alentus now operates as a Wolfpaw Data Centres Inc. hosting brand, combining its long history in Windows and business hosting with Wolfpaw's Canadian data-center infrastructure.

The service range includes Linux Web Hosting, Windows Web Hosting, Microsoft FrontPage Hosting, Multiple-Site Hosting, Reseller Hosting, Dedicated Servers, Cloud / VPS, Domain Registration, Domain Transfers, Email Hosting, SQL Server, and MySQL hosting. The company has traditionally been particularly strong in Microsoft-oriented services, while still providing conventional Linux hosting for WordPress and other PHP applications.

Linux Hosting is divided into Value.NET, Premier.NET, Professional.NET, and Enterprise.NET packages. Resources range from approximately 1.5 GB to 10 GB of website storage, with monthly transfer allocations between 50 GB and 1,000 GB. Entry-level packages include a limited number of email accounts, while the larger plans provide considerably more flexibility. All plans include Plesk management, daily website and database backups, support for WordPress, Joomla and Drupal, migration assistance, and free setup.

Windows Hosting follows a similar structure, with plans designed for websites and applications that depend on the Microsoft environment. This remains one of Alentus' more distinctive areas, especially for customers with older ASP, ASP.NET, SQL Server, or Windows-specific applications that are less commonly supported by mainstream shared-hosting providers.

One of the most unusual services remains Microsoft FrontPage Hosting. FrontPage itself has been discontinued for many years, but Alentus continues to accommodate customers that still depend on FrontPage Server Extensions and direct FrontPage publishing. Value.NET through Enterprise.NET plans are available for these older websites. This gives the company a specialized role for organizations that still operate legacy Microsoft websites and want to avoid an immediate redevelopment or migration.

Multiple-Site and Reseller Hosting is available for both Linux and Windows. Linux packages support approximately 7, 12, 18, or 30 websites depending on the selected plan, with storage allocations reaching 40 GB and monthly transfer reaching 600 GB. Windows reseller packages use a similar structure. Plesk provides control over individual websites, domains, email, databases, and hosting quotas, while daily backups and DNS management are included.

Dedicated Servers use Dell rack servers, including PowerEdge R620, R630, and R640 systems. Configurations can include dual Intel Xeon processors, 16 GB to 256 GB RAM, HDD or SSD storage, RAID 0/1/5/6/10, multiple IP addresses, and network connectivity reaching 10 Gbps. Optional Veeam-based off-site disaster-recovery backups are also available. Dedicated systems are customizable rather than limited to a small fixed catalog, making them more suitable for business applications and customers with specific infrastructure requirements.

Cloud and VPS services are connected with the related Canada Cloud (canadacloud.com) operation, which is also owned and operated by Wolfpaw Data Centres. The platform uses geographically separated Canadian infrastructure, with customer data maintained in multiple copies across two physical data centers. Linux cloud instances are readily available, while Windows deployments can also be arranged. Canada Cloud additionally provides customized public clouds, private clouds, dedicated infrastructure, and Fortigate-based firewall solutions.

Domain registration and domain transfers are available through the Alentus customer account system. Email hosting is integrated into the conventional hosting packages, with authenticated SMTP, webmail, spam filtering, and support for standard mail clients. Customers moving existing websites can also use migration assistance for transferring websites, databases, and related hosting services.

Alentus remains primarily focused on Canadian and North American customers. The company operates in English, while Alentus hosting plans are generally priced in USD. Canada Cloud services are priced separately in CAD. The product catalog combines current hosting technology with some unusually long-lived legacy Microsoft services, making the company particularly relevant to businesses that still depend on older Windows applications.
