📄 Editorial Review

Adept ICT, operated by Adept Internet (Pty) Ltd, is a South African Internet and managed ICT company established in 1996 in Stellenbosch. With roughly three decades in operation, the company has grown from its ISP roots into a broad technology provider covering web hosting, virtual servers, cloud infrastructure, business email, backup, Microsoft cloud products, colocation, Internet connectivity, security, VoIP and managed IT.

The Shared Hosting range is designed for customers who want a conventional managed website environment. Basic, Standard, Business and Enterprise packages use cPanel and combine web space with email accounts, FTP access, databases and traffic allowances. Basic includes 1.5 GB storage, 3 GB monthly traffic, 20 email accounts and one website. Standard increases storage to 4 GB and includes unlimited monthly traffic, while Business and Enterprise provide 8 GB and 12 GB respectively together with larger allowances for websites, databases and email accounts. Domain registration, aliases and SSL certificates can also be added.

Virtual Server Hosting is available for both Linux and Windows. Linux configurations start with 1 vCPU and 1 GB RAM and scale to 16 vCPU and 64 GB RAM. Windows systems start with 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM and also reach 16 vCPU and 64 GB RAM. Administrative access is included, while additional memory and disk resources can be added when necessary. Traffic on this virtual-server range is unlimited.

The separate SSD Cloud platform provides Linux and Windows virtual machines on SSD storage. Configurations begin with 1 GB RAM, 1 vCPU and 30 GB SSD space and extend to 64 GB RAM, 20 vCPU and 640 GB storage. Each server includes a public IP address, administrative credentials, infrastructure monitoring and redundant connectivity. Monthly traffic allowances range from 50 GB to 750 GB depending on the selected package.

Adept also provides Mail Hosting independently from website hosting. The service supports IMAP, POP3, authenticated SMTP and SSL/TLS connections, with anti-spam filtering and greylisting included. Mailbox sizes range from 500 MB to 100 GB, giving customers considerable flexibility between lightweight domain email and larger business mailboxes.

Cloud Backup covers desktop computers and servers with encrypted off-site storage, file versioning, automated reporting and direct restoration. Suitable server packages also support system-state and bare-metal recovery. Backup data uses 256-bit AES-GCM encryption, while the different desktop, server and managed plans provide progressively larger storage allocations and retention options.

Companies that own their physical hardware can use Enterprise Colocated Hosting in Teraco's Cape Town infrastructure. Standard configurations support 1U, 2U and 4U equipment and include redundant power, connectivity and static IP addressing. Copper and fiber cross-connects, dedicated Internet bandwidth and additional connectivity between Cape Town and Stellenbosch can also be arranged.

Microsoft services extend the portfolio further. Adept supplies Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, OneDrive and Microsoft Azure for productivity, virtual infrastructure, backup and disaster recovery. Microsoft 365 includes a 99.9% financially backed uptime guarantee.

Overall, Adept is considerably broader than a conventional shared-hosting provider. Customers can begin with inexpensive cPanel hosting and later move into Linux or Windows virtual infrastructure, SSD cloud servers, business mail, cloud backup, Microsoft services or physical colocation while remaining with the same ICT supplier.
