Mar 22, 2004 : TeliaSonera Moves to Equinix Facilities

📅 March 22, 2004 - Equinix (equinix.com), a provider of network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, and European IP carrier TeliaSonera (teliasonera.com), jointly announced on Monday that TeliaSonera has moved some of its key North American points of presence (PoP) into Equinix's Internet Business Exchange (IBX) centers in the Chicago, New York, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles and Washington, DC areas.

According to the companies, the move will enhance TeliaSonera's global connectivity and provide its customers with new options for IP transit and ethernet transport services.
"Equinix gives us the unique advantage of peering with the largest aggregation of network service providers in centralized locations, enabling us to drastically reduce our traffic exchange costs while improving performance," says Eva Lindqvist, president of TeliaSonera International Carrier. "On top of the peering benefits, we also have access to a consolidation of potential customers in the large number of service and content providers seeking access to our global network services."
Equinix operates 14 Internet Business Exchange centers in 5 countries.
