📅 May 20, 2004 - Web hosting provider Port City Web (portcityweb.com), based in New Hampshire, announced on Wednesday that it has launched a new Web site for elliott newman, a Vermont-based jewelry store. In addition to providing Web hosting services, Port City Web designed the site and implemented credit card processing, order fulfillment and shopping cart capabilities.

"I'm excited about this project because it drives home that Port City Web is a leader in developing, launching, marketing and hosting e-commerce solutions for businesses of any size," says Erik Crago, president of Port City Web. "Two of our biggest e-commerce clients collectively process millions of dollars online annually, and repeatedly have millions of hits per month to their e-commerce Web sites. Port City Web said the launch of the elliott newman Web site is the third of five e-commerce sites the company is planning to launch this month.

📅 May 21, 2004 - Berners-Lee Against Sponsored TLDs - Tim Berners-Lee, the founder of the World Wide Web, condemned the introduction of sponsored top-level domains (STLD) this week at the 13th annual international World Wide Web conference, according to reports. Berners-Lee was critical of nine STLDs that are currently under review by ICANN (icann.org), the organization responsible for overseeing the domain name system. The $10,000 project will see a complete revamp of the California proactive environmental products and services corporation.
