Aug 17, 2004 : WiderWeb Offers Web Hosts Accessibility

📅 - Moore Innovations (mooreinnovations.com), a developer of technology products, announced on Tuesday that it has launched WiderWeb, an accessibility gateway for Web hosting companies.

According to the UK's Disability Discrimination Act, all Web sites are required to be accessible to people with disabilities. The W3C standards body has issued clear deployment guidelines with regards to this matter. WiderWeb, says Moore allows Web hosts to help customers build Web sites compliant with accessibility legislation. The solution provides an automated transcoding function to change a standard Web site into a W3C accessible version, on a per user request basis with full session control.
To deploy the services, a Web site owner places a link from their home page redirecting disabled users to their site through the gateway. The gateway then makes the request on the users behalf, translating it into an accessible version before delivering the page back to the user. All subsequent page requests in the session are then automatically directed through the gateway.
According to Moore Innovations, WiderWeb provides Web hosting companies with a new revenue opportunity and helps solve an important legal requirement.
