Nov 29, 2004 : SCO Web Site Defaced by Hacker

📅 - According to a report by research and analysis firm Netcraft (netcraft.com), the home page of the SCO Web site (sco.com) was defaced by an attacker on Monday.

The attacker reportedly changed the wording on the home page from "SCO Partner Webinars" to sarcastically read "We own all your code" and "pay us all your money." In the background, an image of a woman writing on a blackboard had been altered to read "Hacked by realloc()." The same attack was also perpetrated against the SCO Group's alternate Web site thescogroup.com (thescogroup.com), created earlier this year after attacks took down the company's main Web site for nearly a month.
The SCO Group is at odds with parts of the open source community. It alleges that code used in the Linux kernel violates its intellectual property rights in UNIX. The company has filed a number of lawsuits, demanding compensation.
The SCO Web site experienced outages earlier last week. Netcraft said it is not known whether the outages were related to the recent attack.
Both of the SCO Group's Web sites appear to have removed the defacing.
