Sep 5, 2007 : UNH-IOL Unveils Data Center Test Bed
📅 - The University of New Hampshire InterOperability Lab (iol.unh.edu) announced that it has developed a multi-vendor top-down 10GbE test bed to support testing and demonstration of high-level business and other 10GbE-capable applications such as financial databases, storage arrays and computer clusters.
The test bed reportedly offers multi-vendor compatibility for emerging 10GbE technologies and will reveal that technologies are quite capable of handling applications on individual adapters as well as in a single unified Ethernet fabric.
UNH-IOL says the test plans include LRM and SFP+ solutions, 10GBASE-T copper, KR/KX4backplane CX4 copper and LR/SR/ER optics. Applications for 10GbE networking include iWARP services and iSCSI storage.
The test bed will be showcased at Ethernet Alliance's 10 Gig Tech Summit, where it will demonstrate interoperability not only between devices but also between Ethernet-based data, clustering and storage systems.
