📅 August 3, 2005 - Data center automation software developer Opsware (opsware.com) announced on Tuesday it is broadening the availability of its IT automation software by adding Activalia (activalia.es) in Spain and Portugal to its expanding list of worldwide distributors.

Activalia will distribute Opsware's entire suite of solutions including the Opsware Server Automation System, Opsware Network Automation System and Opsware Asset Management System. Activalia has offices in Madrid, Barcelona and Lisbon, and provides value-add services and products to help enterprise customers optimize their data center performance.

Opsware says its IT automation solutions enable Activalia to help perform better tracking and managing IT assets, improve operational efficiency, meet regulatory compliance and reduce operational costs. As an Opsware reseller, Activalia will have access to sales and marketing support and training through Opsware's partner Web site, online seminars and Web-based sales and technical training programs.

📅 Aug 2, 2005 - Adult Sites Face New Tax Legislation - United States Senator Blanche Lincoln, a Democrat from Arkansas, said last week that he would introduce legislation that places a 25 percent excise tax on all online adult transactions, according to reports. The Internet Safety and Regulation Act of 2005 would require adult Web sites to run age verification software that would be regulated and enforced by the Federal Trade Commission. As part of the legislation, a fund would be established to help fight Internet and pornography-related crimes against children. It would be financed by the 25 percent excise tax.
