Jan 1, 2000 : SMBC Deploys VMware Solutions in
📅 - VMware (vmware.com) announced on Monday that Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation had deployed its virtual infrastructure software to reduce the complexity of its server environment and improve the business continuity of its systems.
VMware says a virtual infrastructure strategy enables SMBC to reduce the number of physical servers and server racks in its data center by 62 and 66 percent respectively. SMBC has also been able to eliminate the need for same-type hardware, reduce the impact of hardware upgrades, simplify application development and improve service delivery.
"With VMware virtual infrastructure, we gained efficiencies on many levels, from optimizing the utilization of hardware resources and consolidating server platforms, to establishing more effective platforms for testing and business continuity," says John Premus, CTO of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. "Ultimately, the implementation simplifies our infrastructure and provides a much lower total cost of ownership."
SMBC hosts its international banking applications out of a single US-based data center. The company says VMware enables it to streamline operational costs and increase the availability of services.
"VMware is dedicated to helping enterprises like SMBC create a robust virtual infrastructure to reduce their IT costs through increased efficiency, flexibility and responsiveness," says Karthik Rau, director of product management at VMware."
