Feb, 2000 : ICANN ASO - Website and Discussion Lists

This is an announcement to all partieswith interests in management of Internet Address space and relatedresources.

The Address Supporting Organisation ofICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers)was established last year, and has assumed its responsibilitiesunder the ICANN Bylaws for coordination of global policy developmentin relation to Internet Addresses and related resources. Thenine-member Address Council has also been established, in accordancewith the ASO MoU and ICANN Bylaws.

Since its establishment, the ASO has establishedmailing lists and a website to ensure that its processes areopen and transparent, and accessible to all parties with an interestin Internet resource management issues.

Three ASO mailing lists are now availablefor public access to ASO information, and for input into theASO process:

aso-announce for announcements and otherinformation relating to the ASO (read only list)
aso-policy for open discussion on policyand other ASO matters (open subscription list)
aso-comment for comment and input of anykind (no subscription necessary)

The ASO website is also now available,at http://www.aso.icann.org, and carries information relatingto the ASO, Address Council, and policy matters which may beunder consideration; as well as complete archives of the abovemailing lists.

At this time the Address Council is seekingparticipants in the ASO process, and encourages all interestedparties to subscribe to the mailing lists above. To subscribe,send a message to <majordomo@lists.aso.icann.org> containingthe text "subscribe <list name>", for instance"subscribe aso-policy".

📅 Feb 15, 2000 - ICANN Public Forum for Ad Hoc Group on Numbering and Addressing - In response to requests from a number of interested companies and individuals, ICANN has created an ad hoc group to study and report on requirements for future numbering policies.
