📅 September 30, 2005 - Los Angeles-based Web host Globat.com (globat.com ) announced on Thurdsay it has launched Million-Dollar-Help-Page.com, a Hurricane Katrina relief fundraising site intended to raise $1 million for the victims of the natural disaster. The site is managed by Globat's non-profit division Globat Foundation, which aims to promote good causes and help those in need.

"At Globat, we take charity seriously," says Ben R. Neumann, president and CEO of Globat.com. "We contributed man-power and money to our 'Feed the Homeless' campaign last Christmas, and made donations to the Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund. With Million-Dollar-Help-Page.com we see our biggest opportunity yet for helping thousands of people whose lives have been ruined by our country's worst natural disaster in living memory."

Million-Dollar-Help-Page.com takes its idea from the MillionDollarHomePage.com concept developed by 21-year-old British entrepreneur Alex Tew, which has already raised over $150,000 towards his university education.

Like Tew's site, Million-Dollar-Help-Page.com sells pixels of advertising space on its front page for one dollar each, in blocks of 100.
