Dec 13, 2005 : Yankee Group Releases SMB Surveys

📅 December 13, 2005 - Market research group Yankee Group (yankeegroup.com) announced on Tuesday that it had released the results of three small and medium business surveys, including the 2005 SMB Applications and Web Survey, the 2005 SMB Communications, Broadband and VoIP Survey, and the 2005 SMB Infrastructure Survey.

Yankee Group gathered data from SMBs with between two and 1,000 employees in each of the three surveys to determine current market trend analysis. This provided a firm grasp of SMB market motivators, deciding factors and behaviors relating to communications technology, business applications and Web services and infrastructure and storage, said the Yankee Group.

The results revealed that in 2005, the US SMB and mid-market-focused Web hosting market earned $4.4 billion and boasted a growth rate of 6 percent. The market for online marketing and advertising was $1.3 billion, and established a growth rate of 49 percent. Software-as-a-service also showed a high growth rate, with more than 60 percent of SMBs attributing lower expense rates and increases in productivity as driving factors for adopting the technology.

"With the detailed analysis and data provided in the surveys," says Steve Hilton, Yankee Group director of small and medium business strategies, "service providers and vendors will be able to identify revenue opportunities and make well-informed strategic, product-planning, channel and marketing decisions when targeting SMBs in the United States.
