Dec 22, 2005 : Oracle Collaborates with IBM


📅 - Oracle (oracle.com) announced on Thursday that it had joined the IBM AIX Collaboration Center as a founding partner.


Oracle says it will work with IBM (ibm.com) to integrate Oracle applications with current and future versions of AIX 5L. The company says customers will benefit from the greater exploitation of each platform's strengths in the areas ofvirtualization, security and cross-platform portability.

AIX 5L runs across the entire range of IBM eServer pSeries systems, from entry-level servers to workstations and supercomputers systems.

"Our applications provide customers with the tools they need to manage the information that runs their businesses," says Charles Phillips, president of Oracle. "IBM has become the leader in the UNIX marketplace and our partnership with thecompany will allow Oracle to take advantage of the momentum they have generated over the last few years."

IBM and Oracle share more than 11,000 customers.
