Jan 10, 2006 : SEGA Deploys Force10 Router in IDC

force10networks.com logo📅 - Routing and switching gear vendor Force10 Networks (force10networks.com -> hostinger.com) announced on Tuesday that it added interactive entertainment company SEGA as a new customer.

SEGA deployed Force10's TeraScale E-Series router in its data center in support of its online gaming network. In 2004, SEGA shifted from an individual network infrastructure to a consolidated network that scales as new gamers join.

Force10 says its router enables SEGA to connect hundreds of servers to a single system, simplifying network topologies, maximizing uptime and streamlining capital and operational costs. SEGA is also using TeraScale's BGP capabilities to peer with its Internet service provider.

"To provide the online gaming experience our users demand, we needed a robust infrastructure that could both provide performance predictability and scale as new players enter the game," says Yoshimi Agata, network engineer in the network operations department at SEGA. "The E-Series switch/router provided us with the high capacity we needed to simplify our network and allowed us to create the reliability of an offline game in an interactive online world."
