ICANN's next round of meetings will be held in 23-27 March 2003 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The meetings are free to attend and open to any interested person. ICANN encourages broad participation in its bottom-up consensus-development process.
The meetings will be hosted by the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee (CGIBR) in representation of the Brazilian Internet Community. They will be held at the Hotel Sofitel Rio de Janeiro.
Pre-registration for attendees is available by filling out the form at <http://register.icann.org>.
Information relating to the meeting agenda and schedule is available on the ICANN website. The meeting website created by the local host has information about accommodations, the meeting rooms, visa procedures, vaccinations, sponsorship opportunities, and social events.

(solectron.com) said in its quarterly report, filed Thursday, that it has received a payment of about $48 million from Lucent Technologies Inc. as a result of a cancelled supply agreement between the companies. In October of 2002, Solectron agreed to undo the three-year, $2 billion contract it had to supply optical networking equipment to Lucent. 📅 - Sprint Provides Managed Hosting for Graebel - Communications company Sprint (sprint.com) announced on Thursday that one of the largest household goods carriers in the US, Grabel Companies Inc., has chosen Sprint to provide managed hosting services for its suite of moving management applications. Through outsourcing to Sprint, says Graebel, the company expects to cut operating expenses by streamlining management and lowering overhead and facilities costs. In the former case there was a range of unpleasant news this week, announced by the companies in some cases, and received by them in others. On Monday, communications carrier AT&T announced that it has plans to cut about 3,500 jobs and take charges of about $240 million as part of its efforts at reducing costs in its corporate services unit. (Broadwing.com), which has been recently undergoing restructuring efforts, is reportedly considering the sale of its high-speed communications unit, and will take a fourth-quarter impairment charge of $2 billion. Broadwing also secured a financing commitment of $350 million, an increase from the $200 million the company announced in December. The company says it will use the increased funding, arranged by Goldman Sachs & Co., to pay down bank debt.
