📅 - AMS-IX, one of the world's largest Internet Exchange operators, will discontinue its U.S. presence and close its Points-of-Presence in Chicago and the Bay Area by March 5, 2026. The decision marks a significant pivot in the organization's global connectivity strategy, signaling a move away from the highly competitive and mature U.S. interconnection market toward regions where the company believes it can deliver greater impact.
The internet exchange operator entered the U.S. in 2013 with the goal of introducing the European-style open and neutral interconnection model to American carriers, cloud providers and content networks.
