Canonical Adds FIPS Kubernetes and Extends Ubuntu LTS to 15 Years

📅 - Canonical is extending its pitch to security- and compliance-sensitive organizations by adding FIPS 140-3 capabilities to its Kubernetes distribution and lengthening the lifecycle of Ubuntu Long Term Support (LTS) releases to as much as 15 years under Ubuntu Pro.

Together, the moves target government, defense, and other highly regulated sectors that face tight certification regimes and long-lived infrastructure, but still want to standardize on cloud-native platforms and Kubernetes.

The company has released support for running its Canonical Kubernetes distribution in FIPS mode as of version 1.34. The distribution now ships with built-in FIPS 140-3 capabilities that use certified [...][... Check source for end of article ...]
