Jul, 2025 : Lithuanian Network Ring Upgraded by RETN
📅 - RETN, an independent worldwide network services provider, has upgraded its Lithuanian network ring that connects Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, and Panevėžys. By expanding high-capacity services throughout these cities, the upgrade is intended to improve regional connectivity within Lithuania while preserving Vilnius and Kaunas as crucial nodes on RETN's international backbone that connects the Baltics with key European hubs.
In response to consumer demand and in collaboration with fiber supplier Skaidula, RETN installed 100G DWDM transponders along strategic regional routes, enhancing the Nx100G and Nx400G services already available in Vilnius and Kaunas. As demand increases, the [...][... Check source for end of article ...]

📅 - RETN Adds Miami and Ashburn PoPs to Serve East Coast Traffic - RETN has launched two U.S. points of presence in Miami and Ashburn, adding capacity at Equinix MI1 and Equinix DC10 as the independent network provider looks to serve media platforms, CDNs, ISPs and enterprises needing lower-latency access to East Coast peering hubs and Layer 2 and Layer 3 connectivity options in a crowded connectivity market this year.
The move is modest in footprint but not meaningless. Miami and Ashburn sit in very different parts of the traffic map, and both matter for buyers trying to manage performance, cost and reach without handing every connectivity decision to a hyperscaler or incumbent carrier.
Ashburn is the obvious one. Northern Virginia remains one of the [...]
📅 - RETN Expands Eastern Europe Fiber Route Through Romania - RETN has launched a new backbone network route stretching across Romania into Moldova, adding another physical connectivity corridor through a region where telecom resilience has become increasingly strategic. The route links Drobeta, Bucharest, Iași, and Chișinău as a continuous backbone path, creating an alternative traffic route for operators and enterprises moving data across Eastern Europe and surrounding markets today.
The new infrastructure also connects into RETN's existing Balkans corridor running through Budapest, Timișoara, and Sofia. On paper, that sounds like another regional fiber expansion announcement. In practice, it reflects something larger happening across Eastern [...]
📅 - RETN Launches New Baltic Backbone Route - RETN has strengthened its Northern European network footprint with the launch of a new terrestrial backbone route between Tallinn, Estonia, and Cēsis, Latvia, a move that was stress-tested almost immediately following a fiber outage in late 2025. The global network service provider confirmed that the newly built route was activated during pre-service testing after a break disrupted the primary backbone line, forcing engineers to reroute live traffic in real time.
According to the company, more than 40 DWDM backbone channels carrying traffic from multiple European regions were redirected to the Tallinn-Cēsis link within 60 minutes. In traditional Layer 1 environments, such restoration [...]
📅 - RETN Launches Flex IX to Unite Peering and IP Transit Services - Global network provider RETN has introduced Flex IX, a new wholesale connectivity service that unifies Remote Internet Exchange (IX) access and IP Transit into a single, flexible solution. The offering aims to eliminate bandwidth waste at peering and interconnect points - a persistent inefficiency in global network operations.
According to RETN's internal research, up to 70% of capacity at major peering points remains unused because bandwidth allocated for IX traffic sits idle whenever peers are inactive. Flex IX addresses this by dynamically converting unused IX bandwidth into IP Transit capacity in real time. This enables network operators, ISPs, and content providers to maximize [...]
📅 - RETN Boosts Italian Network with Milan–Padua High-Speed Fiber Route - Global network services provider RETN has unveiled a new fiber optic route connecting Milan and Padua, strengthening its national infrastructure and enhancing low-latency connectivity as part of its broader expansion strategy in Italy.
The newly launched 360-kilometer line integrates into RETN's 140,000-kilometer global network and is engineered for performance. According to the company, the Milan to Ponte San Pietro (Bergamo) segment is now the shortest and most optimized link available on the market—a key advantage for latency-sensitive sectors such as financial services.
The route is anchored by key Points of Presence at Milan's Caldera Campus and Padua's VSIX internet exchange, with [...]
