Ampere Computing to Be Acquired by SoftBank Group for $6.5B

📅 - In a $6.5 billion all-cash deal, SoftBank Group will buy Ampere Computing, a well-known independent semiconductor design firm. Under the terms of the agreement, Ampere will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of SoftBank Group and retain its name.

Ampere's primary investors, Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) and Carlyle (NASDAQ: CG), are selling their stakes in the company as part of the deal.

The acquisition would enable SoftBank Group expand its investments in AI infrastructure in businesses like Stargate and Cristal Intelligence, strengthening its core competencies and propelling its expansion plans.
