U.S. Regulators Limit AWS-Talen Nuclear Data Center to 300 MW

aws.amazon.com logo📅 - Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Talen Energys ambitious plan to develop a nuclear-powered data center has encountered a setback as U.S. regulators denied a proposed power supply expansion. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) recently rejected an interconnection service agreement (ISA) proposal to increase power delivery from 300 megawatts (MW) to 480 MW for the AWS data center project co-located at Talens nuclear power plant facility.

Although the proposal to scale up was declined, the AWS nuclear energy project can still proceed within the initial 300 MW capacity previously approved.
