📅 September 2, 2024 - In a live network field test, Arelion and Ciena have successfully completed a 1.6 terabits-per-second (Tb/s) wavelength data transmission. This milestone was reached on Arelions 470 km route, which increases capacity between two crucial locations in Arelion's North American network: Telxius Virginia Beach cable landing station and its current Points-of-Presence (PoPs) in Ashburn, Virginia (Equinix).

The route was powered by Ciena's cutting-edge WaveLogic 6 Extreme (WL6e).
