👈 Official Responses: 0) announced on Tuesday that to coincide with the extension of the sunrise period for the .mobi domain it had begun offering a free mobi-compliant site-building tool for customers registering .mobi domains.


The sunrise period for the domain has been extended to September 22, allowing anyone with an actively registered national trademark filed before July 11, 2005 to register the corresponding domain.

Approved by ICANN, .mobi is a new top-level domain specifically created for mobile devices. The domain is backed by mobile operators, network device manufacturers and Internet content providers.

The trademark sunrise period enables trademark holders to register their trademarks in the .mobi domain before the general registration, when the registry will be open to anyone. Hostway is encouraging customers to register their domains before the sunrise period ends.

"We want to ensure our customers have access to this new technology," says John Lee, VP of global marketing of Hostway, "and therefore we're making it easy for them to design a .mobi compliant Web site with our template-based Web site builder, which is currently available for free with each .mobi domain registration purchased through Hostway."
