ICDSoft Now Supports Both MySQL 5 and MySQL 8 on All Plans

icdsoft.com logo📅 - ICDSoft, an independent hosting provider with over 20 years of experience, has enhanced its server setup by offering two separate MySQL versions - MySQL 5 and MySQL 8 - to all current and future clients at no extra cost. Users can simply choose which MySQL version to use for their new databases, and they can have both MySQL 5 and MySQL 8 databases running simultaneously on their hosting accounts.

All software available for 1-click installation via ICDSoft's App Installer tool will use MySQL 8 from now on. WordPress users, who enjoy a separate toolkit for easy installation and management of WordPress sites, will be able to choose which MySQL version to use for each new installation they make.

Unlike a multi-PHP environment, which is quite common and many hosts support it, a multi-MySQL environment is quite rare, as it can be very challenging to properly implement and support it, especially on shared servers where a lot of users run many different applications with different software requirements. However, as ICDSoft does not rely on third-party solutions for server management and control panel software, implementing a fully functional multi-MySQL setup was actually pretty straightforward.

As MySQL 5.7 will reach EOL in October, 2023 and more and more applications will require MySQL 8, users will soon need to upgrade from MySQL 5 to MySQL 8. With the new MySQL setup, ICDSoft now makes this process a lot easier for its clients.
