Second ‘Renewable’ Data Center for Equinix in Bulgaria
📅 - Global colocation data center company and interconnection provider Equinix has planned to open its second Bulgarian International Business Exchange (IBX) data center in Q1 2019. The $19 million data center in Bulgaria's capital Sofia will provide approximately 350 data center cabinets in the first phase of build out with the opportunity to add 1,100 cabinets in subsequent phases.
The SO2 data center will provide a secured colocation data center environment for local businesses and multinationals looking to expand into Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Additionally, Equinix SO2 (equinix.com) will have direct connectivity to the Bulgarian Internet Exchange (BIX) [...][... Check source for end of article ...]

📅 - Equinix Signs Fourth Singapore Solar PPA With Flo Energy - Equinix has signed its fourth renewable power agreement in Singapore in two years, securing at least 11.5 MWp of rooftop solar capacity from Flo Energy with an option to expand to 50 MWp. The deal deepens Equinix's local renewable supply as Singapore's data center market confronts tight land, grid capacity, and rising electricity demand from AI infrastructure.
For Equinix, the agreement is less about one solar contract than the problem of expanding digital infrastructure in a city state where power has become a strategic constraint. The company expects its Singapore renewable energy portfolio to reach 215 MWp by 2028, with its agreements collectively generating about 250,000 MWh [...]
📅 - Equinix Reports Record Bookings and Higher AI Infrastructure Demand - Global data center colocation and interconnection firm Equinix delivered stronger-than-expected second-quarter growth, lifted its financial guidance for 2026 and raised long-term targets through 2029 as enterprise demand for AI, cloud connectivity and digital infrastructure continued accelerating. The data center operator also reported record interconnection growth and one of its strongest booking quarters, reinforcing confidence that customer investment remains broad-based despite persistent capacity constraints.
The AI infrastructure market continues producing a familiar pattern. GPU demand dominates headlines, yet the companies enabling connectivity between enterprises, cloud providers [...]
📅 - Amsterdam Approves Equinix Data Center Despite Power Limits - Equinix has secured permission to build a large data center in Amsterdam-Zuidoost, despite the city's freeze on new facilities, with only one of four towers moving ahead as power constraints delay the full project and sharpen questions over grid capacity, drinking water use, housing plans and who gets priority in urban infrastructure through 2036 and possibly beyond.
For Amsterdam, this is less a real estate story than an allocation fight. The city wants more homes in Amstel III, an old office and industrial zone being remade into a mixed residential and employment district. Thousands of apartments are planned. At the same time, a major American data center operator has a preexisting path [...]
📅 - Equinix Ends Bare Metal Cloud As AI Networking Takes Focus - Equinix will shut down Equinix Metal on June 30, ending its short run in bare metal cloud infrastructure and forcing remaining customers to unwind servers, networking links, billing records, and support paths. The move closes the Packet acquisition story and signals a sharper focus on Fabric, AI-era networking, and regulated edge deployments for enterprise buyers globally now.
The immediate impact is mundane, which is usually where infrastructure shutdowns become expensive. Customers have to remove IP addresses, Fabric virtual connections and VLANs before the service disappears, or risk paying for resources that remain attached after compute has gone. That is not a branding issue. It is [...]
📅 - Equinix Takes AI Factories Into Global Colocation - Equinix is expanding work with Cisco and NVIDIA to deploy Cisco Secure AI Factory designs across its global colocation footprint, adding Presidio's P.A.T.H. Lab as a proving ground for enterprises that want production-grade AI infrastructure tested inside real data center environments before committing to broader rollouts across hybrid, cloud, neocloud, on-premises and colocated estates globally.
The move says something about where enterprise AI has landed after the first rush of pilots. The bottleneck is no longer only model access. It is infrastructure confidence. Can the customer run the workload near the right data? Can it keep control? Can the network handle it? Is the cooling there? [...]
